Odd Question 2 Tornado blamed on not eating B.E.P

We had a tornado hit here yesterday (Yes! In January IN THE MIDWEST!). and as I was reading the news story about the storm devastation, I came across this line:

"The tornado razed her garage, picked up her grandchildren’s playhouse, dumped at least a dozen trees into the street, and tore the roof off her neighbor’s barn across the street.

“Every year on New Year’s Day, I fix black-eyed peas for good luck. You know, this is the first year I didn’t fix them,” she said."

I just had to share with the OP, because I had shared in the original thread that I had never even heard of this.

Honestly, that line in the paper might have went over my head if it had not been for your original post on this topic!

Thanks OP, I will never look at Black Eyed Peas the same again. :-)

The funny thing is that if she had fixed black eyed peas, then the quote would have read:

"Every year on New Year’s Day, I fix black-eyed peas for good luck and it really works. A devastating tornado roared through town and all it did to my property. was pick up my grandchildren’s playhouse and raze my garage. My family is safe and sound and we're so glad we ate black-eyed peas!".

It's all in the perspective!

So True!

Actually, she is very lucky that the storm didn't do more damage.
One of my favorite places to go in the fall, an apple orchard, was completely destroyed.

I hope she at least ate her greens so she will get enough money to fix everything.

We had 2 tornadoes touch down in our Wisconsin county on Monday afternoon. It was weird. It's not supposed to happen in January. No one was killed and since school was just getting out, it could have been much worse.

Ohhgodd, do you live in Wisconsin or northern Illinois?

Northern Illinois, not far from Poplar Grove! You must be near Kenosha?

hehehehehehe... obviously B.E.P. do have magical powers.. ehhehehehe.

Oh my gosh, how silly to think you didn't eat black eyed peas and that is why the tornado happened. But if that is what she believes I ate them New years day and the day after so I am good all year long. I can quit my job, still make money and move into a new house.. how cool is that! hehehehehehehe
