Exclamation Need Help with AOL account - Box fills immediately

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a friend who lives about 4 hours away from me and our way of 'talking' to each other is thru e-mails. She uses AOL and lately her box is 'full' all the time. She told me that her husband isn't having this problem and she can't figure out what to do. She can delete everything and she said in just a short time, her e-mail box is full again. I've tried to help her as much as I can figure out, but I'm don't know much about these kind of things. She says it's all junk that's filling her box.

I don't have AOL so I can only suggest a few things. She told me it's so frustrating because her daughter keeps calling her telling her to empty her e-mail, too. Other friends have told me the same thing -- that they've tried to e-mail her but it comes back to them.

Can anyone tell me what to tell her to do to help her? I've told her to block her junk mail. Any links on AOL that I can send her to that maybe can help her??

Thanks so much.

She should try aol's online live help feature... the few times I've had to use it over the years they were if not quick to resolve the issue - at the very least very polite and willing to walk me through everything.

I don't know anything about AOL, specifically, but with my e-mail, messages in my sent box count towards the size. If she sends a lot of pictures, forwards jokes with pictures, etc. she should try cleaning out her sent mail.

I have AOL. Have had it for years. When your mail is read it goes into old mail and is deleted by itself after a while. I think it is a month. You have to maunally save something to your PC or on aol yourself otherwise it is deleted. It's not like other emails, where you have to delete your inbox, sent box, and deleted box. That's crazy, if you ask me.

I have never heard of an Aol mailbox being full. There has to be something wrong.

Hi,

I have been with AOL since 1998 ..

Since, then this is what I have noticed.

If she is getting alot of emails from People she doesn't know she will have to click and say its spam e-mail so it will go into that folder instead of her inbox this may take some time to get it all worked out..
But, in time she will have a cleaner inbox from all the spammers.

If you pay for the service it only keeps so much in your inbox for about a month then it will start Auto deleting the emails.

They only allow you to have so much in there.

You can also get support and talk with AOL only if you pay for there service now.

If you have the Free AOL you can have loads of e-mail in your inbox now and they will not delete them auto for you any longer.

You can't get any support with them now if you have the FREE AOL. Your pretty much on your own trying to figure things out.

Sometimes Message boards help..

Of course we all know sites we visit and sign up for start to send us junk emails..

Its best to get a free account and use that one to sign up for things and keep our good ones for emailing friends & familys.
So, hopefully we won't get much for spam emails then.

Sorry, If I wasn't that much of a help.

Thanks for all the replies.

I've sent her an e-mail this morning about trying to help her get it straightened out, only to have it returned to me with 'mailbox full'. So I got on AOL instant messaging and left her an instant message with the advice you guys have given me. Hopefully she'll get it worked out.

Thanks again!
