Question Shampoo and Conditioner - what's your favorite?

Just curious what everyone uses for their hair.

What is your hair type?
What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you?
Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner?
Do you use conditioner at all?
Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup?
Or....does any $1 brand suit you just fine? (if so, which one )

Shampoo-Head & Shoulders
Conditioner-Tresemme

My hair is fine & straight.

I only change brands if I find something I want to try on sale.

I used to use the high end conditioners, but found they were no more effective than the lower cost ones. Wish they still had Wella Balsam out there.

Talking my hair

I change about every two months.
This is my current usage:

What is your hair type? Extremely THIN, FINE, and Straight! At the scalp, I am oily, but on the shaft I am dry due to chemicals

What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you? Shampoo Matrix Biolage, Conditioner Pantene Hydrating use this daily, but I use Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm once a week.

Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner? No

Do you use conditioner at all? a MUST!

Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup? see 1st sentence.

Or....does any $1 brand suit you just fine? *In a pinch, I can get by with Vo5, however this is really an absolute pinch.

What is your hair type?

A strange mix of oily/dry where my hair is a bit wavy.

What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you?

Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Shampoo & Conditioner

Frederic Fekkai Glossing Shampoo & Conditioner

Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner?

Yes

Do you use conditioner at all?

Yes- not when I was younger, but I have to now.

Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup?

I change brands when I get bored of the scent.

Or....does any $1 brand suit you just fine? (if so, which one )

No--- Ewww! Most of them make my hair look like junk (in my opinion) When I use my Frederic Fekkai- EVERYONE compliments my hair.

I usually use the Pantene knockoffs shampoo and conditioner from Target. I change when I find something else I'd like to try on sale, but come back to these.

My hair is very thick and wavy.

Hair type: thick silky soft little wavy OILY YUCKS

I used Suave shampoo.... in a pinch when I've run out of shampoo and can't make it to the store.. I've used Dawn dish washing liquid... my hair is so oily! I have even gotten compliments when I used Dawn! One lady said "Your hair is so shiney! What shampoo do you use?" I said Dawn. She thought it was a shampoo she never heard of until I explained! HAHA!

I don't use conditioner.. it makes my hair too heavy and lay too flat.

I only change when I'm bored.

I used to use that Nuetrogena (sp?) shampoo that took away buildup years ago. I heard aspirin in the shampoo will do the same.. I dunno never tried it.

I use Suave Professionals the knock offs of Biolage, Nexxus, Redken.

I actually use a different shampoo and conditioner ever time I wash my hair. I buy about three different sets at a time and rotate them every time I shower. My hair seems to be more manageable since I started doing this a few years ago.

I have A LOT of hair, its long, thin wavy.

What is your hair type? Thick, color-treated, dry ends

What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you? Philosophy Shear Splendor

Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner? Yes

Do you use conditioner at all? Every day

Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup? Not since I started using Philosophy

I tried everything with my hair and this is the only thing the leaves it soft and shiny no matter what I've done to it. My hair styles easily and looks great.

What is your hair type? Long and curly (it's funny, the older I get the curlier my hair gets!)

What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you? I think it's Clarol...the Pro Vive series, for long and curly hair (I know it's in a bright pink bottle! )

Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner? Yes

Do you use conditioner at all? Every time I wash my hair

Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup? Nope

I used to use Tressomme (both shampoo and cond) but then I found this...it works great on my hair, makes it really shiny and curly!

My hair is fine, thin & straight. I use Suave shampoo and conditioner. I don't change. I've tried a lot of others and don't notice a difference, so I save my money.

I have very long hair that is prone to being dry - esp at the ends.

For shampoo I use Neutrogena brand

For conditioner I HAVE to use one formulated for dry or chemically damaged hair. My hair is very long, and I get split ends pretty easily. I also don't rinse out the conditioner all the way - this keeps it shinier and healthier looking. I like Back to Basics

I use Back to Basics. You can find it at most beauty supply stores. My hair is thick and curly. I have no choice but t use conditioner, if I don't my hair is immpossible. I would NEVER use any shampoo from a drug store or grocery store. They are not the same as what is in the beauty supply stores. If you use a good shampoo, you will not need to switch to get rid of build up. I didn't believe it until I switched to Back to Basics about two years ago. My hair has never looked better. Back to Basics have several formulas for all hair types.

Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, and I know some women crush it up and use it as a face mask with a bit of water. I could totally see it removing buildup, but never thought to try it.

I still haven't found a shampoo I like.

What is your hair type? Thick, wavy curls

What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you? Either Pantene for curly hair or Herbal Essence for curly hair

Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner? Nah as long as the conditioner is one of the two then the shampoo doesn't matter as much.

Do you use conditioner at all? I'd never untangle my hair without it!

Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup? Nah I switch when CVS, Walgreens or Rite Aid give away something for curly hair that I haven't tried.

Or....does any $1 brand suit you just fine? (if so, which one ) Shampoo doesn't really matter to me since conditioner is the important step. That said Suave tangles my hair something fierce so I try to stay away from it!

Short answer...I buy whatever I can get the cheapest with coupons...usually Dove, Garnier, Herbal Essences, or Infusium 23.

This stuff is great. I like all the Back to Basic products especially their lip balm. And Sally's will run great specials on the Back to Basics products.

I love the Neutrogena Clean line, but it is hard to find. I used to buy salon brands until I stayed at the Hilton one time, and that was the samples they had. I loved it! My hair responded so well.

I just ran out of my supply of Clean bottles, so bought some Anti Residue, and am using that ona regular basis. My hair seems to be extremely unmanageable, but that too could be the fact that it is winter.

I love some of the ideas you all are throwing out! I am particularly interested in the Philosophy brand. Does one get that in a salon, I wonder?

Beer will also remove build up and give your hair body, The alcohol removes all the build up and the yeast gives your hair body.

My favorite shampoo is Biolage, but I don't use it very often because it is so expensive. I mostly use Herbal Essences, and switch out every once in awhile for Biolage to prevent build-up

What is your hair type? Very fine and straight.

What brand/type shampoo and conditioner really works best for you? Depends on what smell I like at the time for shampoo and always use the Nexxus conditioner. It is the only one that detangles my very fine hair without using a lot of the product.

Do you use the same brand for both shampoo and conditioner? No

Do you use conditioner at all? Yes

Do you change brands regularly to prevent buildup? Depends on what mood I'm in for the scents. Right now I found bath and body works volumizing on sale and stocked up. Puts me in a better mood sometimes in the morning smelling it.

Or....does any $1 brand suit you just fine? I buy the Suave shampoo that runs around $1.50. The berry fusion smells good to me.

I used Paul Mitchell for years, and then I had to buy some Head and Shoulders for my oldest DD, and now that's what we all use.....We have the Smooth and Silky, both Shampoo and Conditioner. I do find that I still need to follow up with a bit more conditioning so for that I use Garnier Leave-In conditioning cream....

We don't really change products often, unless there is something new I see that I want to try, Can't use suave or Vo5, my hair gets extrememly frizzy, and yucky!

my hair type is dry. I love pantene but it is so expensive. I try to stock up when there is a sale or I have coupons. I do not like the dollar stuff, it drys out my hair. Especially white rain.. I wish I could though.

certain Sauve products are good, but I find they discontinue them fast.

I have the dry hair too. Problem is that it is also thin/fine so I can't use heavy conditioners. I am too cheap to try expensive products and that was part of what I hoped to find with this question - personal recommendations for something to help with dry and thin hair. My favorite conditioner so far is Infusium23 - I use the one for colored hair (colour)ologie. The $3 coupon that comes out every so often helps a lot. I have just started to put the conditioner in and then pile my hair up on the top of my head with a clip so that the conditioner stays in the ends for awhile...my poor hair.
