My cousins son was in a terrible accident this morning on Interstate 80. He, his wife and their almost 1 yr old daughter were coming here (Iowa City) from their home about 40 miles away to get their daughter't adnoids taken out. I guess they hit black ice and hit a semi head on. The wife was 5 months pregnant and was killed instantly. The little girl has a broken collarbone but is doing ok. The husband was in surgery for about 4-5 hours and has major head trauma and is extremely critical. Please, please, please pray for this family. Their son is named Josh and the little girls name is Tenely. Thank you all.

As of 6:15PM Josh is still alive. He has brain swelling so they don't know the extent of brain damage. He has a broken hip, internal bleeding and spinal injuries. I will keep you posted and thanks for all the prayers. This family really needs them.

I 80 is so bad in the winter with Black Ice. I have driven that stretch many times for work and have heard of many lives lost during the winter time. It always scared me to drive out of Davenport when I would travel there.

I am so, so very sorry to hear of this tragedy. I will keep this family close in my thoughts.

Not good news at all this morning. His brain stem is non-functioning. I beleive as I write this that they are assembling as a family-waiting for a brother to get here from New York - to possibly disconnect the life support. I will update later. Thank you so much for your support. Update again-they are going to wait a few days before any decisions are made. They are also planning to have another MRI done. Once again, thanks for your prayers.

Oh how sad! I am sorry to hear this new news on his condition. I am still hoping that things will turn around.

I searched for any articles on the story about this horrible accident and saw that Josh was a Teacher and it appears a very good one at that.

Hello, my name is Alisa. Today was one of the most tragic days at my high shcool. During second hour, we had found out that our teacher Mr. Josh Miller, was in a car accident. Our whole school was in shock. Everyone at our school that knew Josh, knew he was a good guy. He was my World History teacher. We always loved being in his class. Everyone I was talking to was so supportive to one another. A lot of people broke down into tears. We all miss him very much. This comment was for one of the GREATEST teachers! As of Thursday evning nothing has changed. I have visited the hospital twice. It's the strangest thing-he looks fine. He is hooked up to a ventilator and has part of his head covered but he just looks like he's sleeping peacefully. I guess that's what a coma looks like but I've never seen anyone in a coma. Another scan was done this afternoon but it has not been read yet. We are all just in a wait and see mode. His parents have not left the hospital and all his siblings are there all day with one of them also spending the night. Luckily we have a huge extended family and that really helps. I'll keep you posted and thanks again for all the support. I will be printing out all the entires and putting them in clear photo pages so they can read that people all over the country are praying for them!! They will be very touched!!! Thanks and God Bless all of you!

Hi there,
I worked in ICU for a long time at a Level One Trauma Center here in cleveland. I have seen many accidents like this. Yes, that is what a coma looks like. They are most likely inducing that coma to let his brain and organs heel. They may also have him "paralyzed" again so he can heel. This is all for the benefit of the patient!

As far as I know, it's not a drug induced coma. I think that's worse if he's in one by himself isn't it? We are praying our hearts out and staring a special Novena today. This is a really large family-Josh's dad has 12 siblings-plus all their kids and spouses, etc... We have hundreds of just family praying not eve counting friends, church prayer chains and you wonderful folks!!! We are certainly storming the gates of heaven! Thanks!
