It depends on if you supply more than 50% of her living expenses. Also, it depends on if she will claim herself on her own return.

Yes, she lives here when she's not in college, and we pay all her college expenses. She doesn't file on her own.

If she is a FT student and you are providing more than 50% of her support housing, food , etc yes you can claim her.

I take it she does not work at all?

If she works you have to determine who pays out more there is a worksheet on the IRS site for it, or there was they keep moving stuff on me otherwise I would link you.

Yes, you can if she doesn't file and claim herself and you provide all her expenses. If you're using Turbo Tax or H&R Block Tax Cut, that information is provided for you and explains it.
When one of my sons was in college and was working, we could have claimed him but he could claim himself too. So we opted for him claiming himself so he could get the refund back for himself.

"Full time student" is defined by the amount of credit hours I think. It used to be 12 credit hours minimum per semester. Not sure about that any more. My son, years ago, dropped a class and didn't bother to tell us. We found out when the IRS contacted us.

My husband argued with them, (he got a really nice agent), and won but it was annoying to have to do that. Since we didn't know that he was not full time, and since our intent was for him to be full time and since he actually started that semester full time, they let it go.
