Dining Room Table -- Centerpiece?

What do you have on your dining room table as a centerpiece?

We currently have a pretty stoneware plate with a napkin holder and salt, pepper, and honey dispensers on it. There is also a huge jar of kids' vitamins. LOL.

I have the same thing as you (except for the vitamins and honey) on the table in the eat-in kitchen. In season, we sometimes have fresh flowers in a vase - things from the yard - lilacs, daffodils, daylilies, etc.

In the formal DR, I have a floral arrangement - sometimes with candles - that I change a few times a year.

My Mom gave me a beautiful crystal bowl with roses carved into the pedestal. I have it filled with fruit, a basket with napkins and a tray filled with crystals and rocks.

I have a large basket of fruit. On the kitchen counter/ bar I have a candle holder that I change out every month. Currently it has 3 roses in small vases (from Target- live, laugh, love) and 3 white tealights in votive holders.

What a great question!

At the present time our table centerpiece for the familyroom/eat in kitchen area has a beautiful stack of paperwork to go through for taxes, a lazy susan w/everyday needs, i.e. napkins, soy sauce, salt pepper, etc, a jar of jelly belly's and the beginnings of a science fair project. (It will be cleaned off prior to dinner time)

Our formal dining room table has been taken over by a second science fair project and craft items as we get ready for valentines day.

We rarely have a traditional centerpiece as someone is always creating something. I figure that since the kiddos are young, we need our space to be imaginative. But I will say that we have enough floor space to displacy a nice center piece or two as long as our four legged family members don't disturb it/them. I know w/in time I will have my day to decorate, but now its time for the kids.

Have a wonderful evening.

I guess I should add that the kitchen table also has a large, green w/ snowman, can of popcorn. The counter has a stack of bills, pictures that need to be rehung and 2 boxes of cereal from this morning.

At Christmas time, I fill a large clear vase with my husbands grandfathers antique Christmas ornaments. Right now, I have a pair of "country" trees that match my wallpaper boarder. We live in a home built in the 1920's. We are moving soon to have extra room for the baby

On my kitchen table I have a rectangle shaped wooden bowl with "fixins" and a round candle in the center of that. The "fixins" contain dried apples, cinnamon sticks and tiny pumpkins called putka pods. It has a very prim look to it.

Before that I had a tile trivet with a napkin holder and salt/pepper shakers sitting on top of it.

A large vase of poppies from Michaels - I selected the poppies, and the lady in floral arranging put them together in my vase. It was so much less expensive than I thought it would be - the poppies were on sale, and the arranging fee was 40% of the cost of the flowers selected. I guess it can add up depending if you select what's on sale or not...

Great question, Cuthie!

I have a large brandy inspired vase filled with rose petals, I pick up the petals at the local florist.....very cheap. My dining room center piece never changes.......just what I fill it with.

On our kitchen table I have a miniature chalk board setting on an easel...I normally write whats for dinner on it or little messages.

My dining room table has a pink, white & red striped (Valentine's Day) table runner with a square hammered silver charger in the middle which is currently empty. I will probably put a glass floating candle bowl with pink red or white floating candles in it at some point. There is also a pile of paperwork that I didn't finish going through yesterday.

We don't have a table in our eat-in kitchen yet. Ours was broken in the move and has not yet been replaced. On the breakfast bar (counter), I have a three tiered stand with white plates and fresh whole fruit, although it's pretty empty right now since I need to make a grocery run.

I keep both tables (kitchen and dining room) free from clutter. on the kitchen table I have a plant in a basket and on the dining room table (centerpiece changes with the seasons) I have a tablescape with a vase filled with marbles and heart shaped "stones" and 6 artificial roses, on the sides of that are little votive holders - and it all sits on a runner that is ivory with roses embroidered.

I try waiting out my husband every time he accumulates a new pile of "stuff" but I end up giving in. Lately, I have taken to putting all the junk he has laying on the bar and throwing it in a grocery sack and sticking it in the spare room. He has 3 bags in there and hasn't asked once "where's this or that?". I bet I could trash it all and he would never miss it.

Lovin' the creative centerpieces... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I justify our little mess with a beautiful light fixture over the table. Hopefully, people's eyes are drawn to that and not the bottle of vitamins and homework residue!

I am so happy to know there are other people out there like me. Right now the dining room table is a huge mess with papers, magazines, the last 2 days mail, and odds and ends. We currently don't have a "kitchen table" because the last one we had I hated and haven't gotten around to getting another one yet. Rarely do we eat together anyway and when I eat it is sometimes at the bar or at the computer.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe people will look up at our ugly chandelier and then be moved by that. I've never lived by myself, but if I did - I have all of these fantasies of being clutter free. Then my husband or dog enter the room and that beautiful image bubble then bursts.
