Dairy Queen prices have sky-rocketed here!

I took my son to DQ yesterday and was shocked at the prices...

A small blizzard was over $3.00! I haven't checked in awhile but I believe Baskin Robbins prices are lower? Gotta love those Sonic and McD's ice cream cones.

I told him that from now on, we'll go buy a half gallon of *good stuff* at the store. As if we need that in the house! and sometimes, it is just fun to re-live my childhood and DQ. Sigh.

I sound like my grandmother... "I remember when a loaf of bread was 10 cents!".

Heh.

Our DQ is in the mall combined with Orange Julius so the prices are higher than a freestanding DQ. When DH goes for his dr appts about 50 miles from home, there's a DQ there that we went to last month. The prices were still normal. $3 is over the top for a blizzard. Are you signed up with the Blizzard fan club? You'll receive a monthly email that will occassionaly have a B1G1 free coupon in it.

I've noticed the ice cream price hike at the market more than DQ or BR. I was shocked looking at the prices of even the store brand. I was with my SIL and her theory was that maybe dairy prices going up with gas/oil prices.

I Love DQ, however, we have 2 here in town, and neither sells the cherry flavored shell (that hardens on the ice cream) That is all I get, so I only go to DQ when I am out of town now!!I think I am going to complain to their headquarters about it!!

We do the same thing....but its a $1.50 scoop night here.....but I so love the chocolate peanut butter ice cream its worth it. Or Baskin Robbins is connected to a Dunkin Donuts so its hard not to get an apple fritter at the same time.

I dont know about DQ mine is closed till spring/summer. At the baskin robbins inside the dunkin donuts by me, a small sundae is 3.xx so I usually try and hold out on going until a tuesday when its buy one get one free and get 2 for the price of one and this way I will always have one in the freezer. I noticed the prices at Friendlys have gone up to almost $4 for a sundae too.

Yes- dairy (milk) has been rising fairly quickly, so anything made from it will tend to also.

The *dairy* thing just hit me after reading a lot of these posts!! That must be it. Milk and dairy prices have also sky-rocketed here.

Duh. LOL.

Guess we'll treat it for what it is -- a treat! and pursue some of the alternatives suggested in this thread. Thanks for the ideas.

The prices on everything else is rising, so I can see where DQ is raising their prices, too, especially with the price of dairy products.

We make our own DQ blizzards at home. They're really easy. Put your ice cream, a little milk and Orieos (or whatever you want to add) in a blender for just a few seconds. Presto, you havea DQ Blizzard !! My son used to make them all the time when he was growing up. We even make our own milkshakes too.

It seems like I 'think' too much if I'm at DQ eating a $3.50 or $4.50 ice cream dessert. I'm thinking, gosh, I could have bought an entire gallon or more at the grocery store for this price!!

We make our own ice cream, Blizzards, sorbet, etc., especially since I got a used Vitamix off of ebay.

I also noticed they shrank the size of the waffle bowl. Ugh lol

My husband and I own a 60 cow dairy farm. The price of milk has been up for about a year. i asked dh why and he says because demand is up. The cheese factory were we ship our milk pays us what the going rate for milk is.

I thought it was because of rising grain prices that was affecting the cost of dairy products?
Interesting info, thanks for sharing!

By the way, you won't be getting that much of a deal on Ice Cream in the stores, if you haven't seen it already. Prices are going through the roof.

Breyers is not raising their prices, instead they are shrinking their package 10 ounces! So enjoy the 56 ounce half gallons while you can.

Blue Bunny makes Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, from what I was told.

I've never seen ice cream B1G1 free. However, Blue Bunny and Yarnell's is often 3/$10. Very rarely coupons for ice cream too. Sometimes during the summer but that's only Blue Bunny. Almost free?? Not in my area.

I haven't stopped by DQ since the summer, but could imagine that the prices have risen. Dairy products have skyrocketed, a gallon of milk is almost $4 a gallon now, not to mention the prices of sour cream & cream cheese.

DQ by us has been that expensive since before last summer. I took my kids the other day and it was $10 for 3 small Blizzards <yikes>. We usually go to Sonic because they are so much cheaper (and just as good, if not better, IMO) for shakes & slushes.
