I just started going to rummage sales at the end of the summer when I actually found out what a rummage sale was. I am hooked I have found MORE THAN GREAT THINGS THERE I found cloting (Abercrombie & Fitch, GAP, Old Navy, United colors of Benetton, Hollister, ect.) I usually wait for the fill a bag days which makes it more than reasonable since I am usually searching for clothing. What good finds have you found? Well not a rummage/garage sale, the ones I have been to never have any goos stuff, but we did stop at Goodwill last night and for $22 I got
a Fisher Price House with all the furniture and people
a Fisher Price Hippo that goes with their animal train
a big bag of kids clothes, lots of Mulberribush, Flapdoodles and a new Limited Too shirt for dd.
We didn't have much time to look or I could have gotten more!

I have been cleaning out my house a little at a time and plan to have a huge yard sale as soon as the snow is gone. I am alos looking forward to hitting some yard sales. I promised my dh that for every item I bring home from a yard sale I go to, I will give up an item at home! I have lost 15 lbs and I really need some new clothes, so that makes me want warm weather so I can find some bargains! I would say that at least 75% of my clothing comes from Yard Sales. Our local Goodwill is so expensive now that I don't shop there much anymore. I refuse to pay $8-12 for a pair of used jeans and $5 for a used sweater.

I can't wait to start visiting and having garage sales!!! With eBay fees going the way they are its more profitable to just sit outside for a weekend instead of all the listing, photographing, packaging and driving

I do admit that I love the thrill of the hunt! Can't pass up a good rummage /garage sale. Over the years, I have found some neat stuff, but I have to set my limits.

I think not having them year-round is better for me. I don't need the temptation (or stuff) and appreciate them more since we have them for a limited, seasonal time.

Yes Crittles that's it "the thrill of the hunt"!!! There is nothing more satisfying than finding that one of a kind item by chance or spotting a fine piece of Capodimonte marked for a quarter (happened to my sister)!

That is surely something else to look forward to in spring and summer.

I havent been to one in sooo long, but on my way home from picking up my paycheck I stopped at one & got 2 (still in package) talking Brats dolls, for $5 each, the Target $39.99 sticker was still attached. & 10 brand new gift bags that looked as if they were hand made and painted, so pretty for $10 cents a bag. That got me all excited & can't wait to go to more :0)

this is our first winter in the NE, I was expecting you know,,, lots of snow and stuff, been mostly rain and snow a couple days over the winter so far. Son was joking about having 4-5 months of spring instead of a winter. once it stops raining so much I'm hauling stuff out of this house most of it needs to find a new home tired of it being here. VHS no one watches, DVDs, board games, TOYS and more toys ect ect

By rummage sale I am guessing you mean a big sale like they have at a church? I just went to my first last year, it was actually a kids consignment sale at a church. Got a like-new snow suit for dd for $5.00. Living in the South she only wore it about three times, but I was glad I had it those three times. Also got a pair of jeans for $1.00.

I like garage sales too but having a baby I don't get out as early as I should so I am probably missing some good stuff.

Now my parents and I had a garage sale this year and made $900. Most of it in the first two hours, it was fun. Alot of work to set up but fun.

I like garage sales and am waiting for the warmer weather and Saturday mornings out and about.

I have so many great things that I've gotten. I have a beautiful wicker and glass sofa table, that I didn't know I needed until I saw it. I have large area rugs in my family room and dining room that I got at garage sales. The one in the family room is getting shabby. Time to find another. I have a very large oriental gong-shaped decorative object that I love. It was made to use indoors but I am using it as a garden decoration. I have some art glass items, a hand crocheted tablecloth, (I think it was probably intended to be used as a bedcover), antique washstand, my bedroom lamps, and Christmas decorations. I collect Santa Claus figures, so I seldom can go to a sale and not find a Santa. I buy paperbacks. I read a lot, so that saves me a lot of money. And of course toys, games and clothing for my grandson.

My biggest problem is transporting the stuff home. We have a very large stainless steel BBQ that weighs several hundred pounds and the guy selling it offered to bring it to the house. It had to be lifted up some steps and my son-in-law, who is a big, extremely strong guy, and the other guy, almost killed themselves getting it on the deck.

My daughter got a fantastic leather sectional on Craigs list. Looks like new. The sellers were moving and didn't think it would fit in the new place.

Oooh. I can't wait for spring....
