My husband has been feeling sick with a virus for a few days. Yesterday he came home from work with arm tingling and chest hurting. Took him to the hospital and the cardio came back good, but at first in the bloodwork it came out that it looked like he was having a heart attack. They did the catheter and looked around inside and his arteries are crystal clean and comes to find out its this virus that is attacking his heart. They did the echo and an ultrasound today and he has to go to boston as his heart is only working at 50% capacity due to this virus and they have all the anti viral medicines there. He is going to one of the best hospitals and i have faith he will come out of this. (i can only pray) I feel helpless and really struggling with this as im trying to stay strong for our 4 childrens sake. please please pray even if your not religious he means to much to me and i don't want to lose him. thanks.

UPDATE

He is at brigham and womens hospital now and he had another echo test today and another x-ray. I do not know the results of that test yet, but from what the doctor said this morning is. This is a typical virus that would attack anyone and it isn't the one that just attacks the heart. Normally anyone that comes down with it, would fight it off and maybe not even know they have it. The virus just liked him and he was having more symptoms. His vitals all look good, but they do want to go in and do a biopsy monday to find the strain there is 2 one is severe 1 is the lesser and the doctor said from his symptoms it sounds like the lesser one. He is walking around and feeling good so im just holding on to hope at this point. Thank you for all your prayers it means a lot to me and my family. I will update as i know more.

(SECOND UPDATE)

He had the biopsy it went good, but there was more water around the heart then they wanted there to be so they told him at first he wouldnt be released till wednesday. also they said he will forever be oin hert failure meds as this viras made his heart so weak they call it heart failure. He will forever have to maintain this as it could happen again. he will have tp be on diaretics for water retention there and watch sodiam intake. He will be fine with diet so im optimistic. They said things looked good today so they may let him come home. Thank you mc family for keeping my dh in your prayers it means a lot to me.

I do echoes for a living and I have for 16 years now. This is usually a very nasty virus that attacks the heart muscle and weakens it. They say he is functioning at only 50 % capacity. I'm not sure how they did this, but 50% for an ejection fraction is still normal. If he is half of the 50% making it only 25%, then that is bad. I will be thinking of you and your family and pray for a good outcome.

I am hoping for by your reply that its just at the 50% they didn't rush him up to boston so im thinking that is what its at. They had to wait for a bed to open before they shipped him there so im praying that is what its at. As i know more i will update. Thank you all so much for being here for me and praying for him. He is definetly in the right place! I had heart surgery in Boston forever ago. Whenver my latest docs ask where I had my surgery done they are glad to hear Boston! {They always say it was the best place to be and I was lucky to be from near there.}

I hope he continues to improve and feel good and all the tests come back fine.

Acording to the doctor its a typical virus it just attacked him differently. He isn't on the meds yet as they are going to be doing the biopsy monday morning to determine exactly what strain it is. The doctor thinks its the lesser one because his heart isnt enlarging as we know and his vitals are all stable. He is on some meds to strengthen his heart and just awating the echo results they did today and his bloodwork to come back. I will update tomorrow sometime as i know more. Trying to stay focused its so hard.

Good husbands are truly gifts from God. I had a big scare with mine a couple of years ago when they diagnosed him with testicular cancer. Keep alot of conversation going with every doctor and medical professional you come across. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Just wanted to let you know I'm still thinking of you. I'm glad things went well yesterday and you're staying optimistic. Thanks for keeping us updated.

I'm glad to here that things are going better. Being on permanent meds isn't a bad thing. I do it for severe allergies. Also, sounds like he will be an a healthy diet, something more of us need to do (I know I do).
I will keep you all in my prayers still.

thank you all for praying for him and supporting me when i needed it the most. He is home and on a low sodiam diet which we are doing and hes all for doing it. He also is on fluid restrictions of so much a day so we are watching that as well. I am just so thankful we have overcome this obstacle and i honestly couldn't have done it without all the support iv been getting. Thank you all so much.
