The Vet sent us Flowers

I told you all the other day about our special vet and how caring and thoughtful they were the other day with us and Grumpy. Well last night we were sitting here and someone knocked at the door and it was a florist. Our vets office sent us this huge bouqet of flowers and a sweet card. I am so blessed to have such a caring group of people caring for our animals.

Just thought I would share this sweet gesture.

YES, you are very fortunate to have such a caring veterinarian.

A few years ago, one of our cats was very very sick. We knew she had cancer, and were treating her for that. Well, of course "the end" came when DH was out of town......Well, here I was with a cat that needed to be put out of her misery, and children that would be heart broken to have to say goodbye to one of their pets. But, I knew what needed to be done, so I called the vet's office, asking if they could get us in right away to put the cat to sleep. Well, the soonest they had was the next day. Ugggghhh, a whole nother day of misery for my kitty??? No, no, surely you have something sooner. They told me I could just drop her off and leave if I wanted to do that. I was appalled to say the least. So, I took the appt. for the next day. Of course the cat died JUST as we were getting ready to go to the appt. So, I called the vet to tell them. They said they were sorry she died, etc. Well, about 2 months later, I got a phone call from the vet's office. "Hi there. Kitty is due for her shots, when would you like to come in????" I about fell over, and let them have it...... So, YES, you have a very nice vet there. And, sorry for your loss, it's hard, I know.

Our vet also sends flowers when there is a death of a pet. We also got flowers at Christmas! We are one of his best customers though with 11 pets and I take any strays in I can catch to be vaccinated and spayed/neutered. We used to be military and have lived all over and used alot of different vets and this vet is the first one that has ever sent flowers.

So sorry for your loss, but happy to see that you have caring providers that you know you can depend on with your next pets!

I have never heard of a vet sending flowers -- that is really thoughtful and sensitive of him.

How is your family doing?

I am so sorry you lost Grumpy. I know how it feels. Your vet is certainly considerate.

We are doing ok. He was the last of our dogs so the house is very quiet without him. It's funny the routine you get into with walking, feeding and such and then nothing.

We still have our kitties though so they keep us busy.

I just took in another stray that someone dumped off and she is due any day with kittens so I am anxiously awaiting them. They say for every life lost there is new life and she is bringing the new life to our house. So I have been busy making a birthing box and making sure she is comfortable. So I have kept busy.

Thank you again everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers.

I'm very sorry for your loss-it's hard to lose a pet.

Our family vet has always sent a card after the death of one of our pets. Don't worry, we've used the same vet for over 20 years and have only had 3 deaths.

I cannot believe a vet wouldn't take a pet in at once to be put down. Our vet does give you the option of coming in after the last appointment so you don't have to see other people in the waiting room. They would NEVER suggest bringing the pet in the next day.

I tell you, that is one of the sweetest things that I have ever heard of anyone doing!! We got a card from our vet after we lost our dog but for your vet to send flowers....WOW--that's so nice!! You are truly lucky to have a caregiver like that for your family (and yes, a dog is a part of your family--IMO)!

Thank you for keeping us posted and I am glad that you and your family are doing alright. You have been on my mind since I read your first post! Ya'll are still in my prayers!

Well, a cat with kittens is a new life and then some! It sounds like you have a lovely vet,and you're kind and resilient enough to put your energies into doing right by a stray. All sorrow aside, there's a lot of goodness right there.

It's hard to find a vet that TRULY cares. We had to put our beloved lab down a few years ago. The vet stayed in the room with us until the very very end. She left us to say our good-byes and when she came back, she covered Sandy up very gently and asked us if we were ready. She was crying almost as much as we were.

A few weeks later, we got a card in the mail from a veterinary research hospital informing us that our vet's office had made a donation in Sandy's name. I was VERY touched by this.

To thank the vet, I found a Willowtree angel holding a puppy and we gave that to our vet as a 'thank-you' for being Sandy's and our 'Angel'.
