Superbowl Sunday - I don't get it

My DS and DH and DDad are making all these "wonderful plans" for watching the game.
When I asked who they are rooting for, they said they didn't care. (They are all Cowboys fans)

So why watch the game?

Personally I'm going to DVR it and do the opposite of what I normally do - tomorrow I'll zip through the game and then watch the commercials! That's the best part of the Superbowl, IMHO!

sounds like our house.....we don't normally root for either team (unless they are playing against the Cowboys),but, we like to watch the Super Bowl anyway. We make lots of fun food, and enjoy ourselves. Each person picks a team to root for and we just have fun with it. I think it's the "atmosphere" we enjoy so much.

We normally have a big bash. This year I wasn't in the mood for hosting a huge gathering. I enjoy the Super Bowl. I especially enjoy the commercials. I rarely get to see them because I am "hosting".

I have a huge pot of chili on as I type. Dh is going ot go get chicken wings later. I think I am going to like relaxing and watching the Super Bowl this year.

We love Super Bowl Sunday....Even the kids get super excited. If they don't like football they like the commercials. I really like it because we are together as family enjoying something (what more could I ask for!)

We're not huge football fans either, but my whole family looks forward to Superbowl Sunday. We watch the game, but mostly for the commercials. I make snacky-appetizer foods for dinner and the girls love that.

However, today it's kind of ruined. SIL decided to have neices 17th b-day party today at 4:30. So we'll be over there for a birthday party. I don't know if they'll have a Superbowl-type party or not, but I really doubt it. I'm sure the game will be on, but it's a birthday party versus a superbowl party and she's not even mentioned the superbowl.

Oh well, there's always next year!

People around here really get into it. I think part of it is that it is a month past the holidays - in the middle of the bleak winter - and it an excuse to get together and have fun.

Its sort of like Mardi Gras for the rest of the country really - nice mid-winter holiday, good food, good company, a passive activity that feels active (go team go!). And in a surprise, this year the football was better then most of the ads!

We are not huge football people but we love the excuse to get together and eat too much. This is the South, any reason for a party with family and friends is a good one.
