I filed my federal income tax February 1 and efiled. I used Taxact.com's deluxe bundle. Taxact's website says sometimes their customers get their return in as little as 8 days. Then I read on a website I was browsing that other people who use Taxact get their refund in a week. Does anyone here have any BTDT experience for me? Last I remember the IRS only does direct deposits on Fridays, has that changed?

Mabear, that's something I meant to mention. My confirmation date is the standard two weeks according to the IRS refund chart. I was wondering if anyone ever had their ITR deposited earlier than they expected.

go to IRS.gov and type in 2008 refund cycle chart in the search it will tell you when it should be DD

In as little as 8 days is if you file on a Thursday before the cut off time. Then your refund would be there Friday of the next week. Not only do you have to file before the cut off time but the return also has to be accepted with no errors.

I used TaxAct online just last night. I received notification today that both my returns were accepted by Federal and State. I was told to expect my Federal Direct Deposit on 2/15.

Ok, I guess I missed the cut off time/date. I did mine on Feb 1st and my refund is scheduled for the 15th. I was hoping/wondering if there ws a chance it would be deposited before then.

I filed last week and it said my refund would be deposited on Friday, Feb 8th and mine was deposited last night.

Here is the basic run down. If you file and it's accepted on a Thursday, you can expect it the following Friday, if it's after that, then it's the following Friday.

I efiled on 1-26, they were accepted on 1-27 and my refund was deposited in my checking account overnight last night!

The IRS does DD on Tues and Fridays but you did not hear the Tuesday date from me, its not well known except to those of us who work in the field.

I think ours was e-filed and accepted on the 26th and it still says to expect it sometime no later than the 12th and I did mine at home with Taxcut this year rather than Turbo Tax or at work.

I filed on 1/26/08 and we rec'd our federal direct deposit on 2/4/08 (the email said it was scheduled for 2/8/08. We used taxact, too.

We've been e-filing for years and have always had our refund deposited with 7-10 days of filing, though have never used Taxcut, usually used TurboTax.
