Baby names

I'm pregnant 16 weeks and I have an Dr. apt. in a week and my dr. does an ultrasound each time so hopefully we'll find out the sex of the baby. We have our boy name chosen, but are undecided as to the girl names. I like Sophia, but it's SO popular right now, so that's a downside, plus my husband new a girl that he really disliked with that name, and she also shared the same last name... So it's got a bitter taste in his mouth.
Sophia Claire
Analiese Claire (problem with this one is we already have 3 kids, names all end with the a sound, like in Sophia...
Another name that just popped up is Eliana...
Let me know what you think, and give suggestions if you want.
Thanks...

Alanna is another one with the a sound at the end, but I have to say I really like Sophia!

I wanted to name one of the last two girls Emma, but DH refused because he knew a girl named Emma and couldn't stand her, so I feel your pain!

I also like Sophia - I wouldn't discount using it because it's popular. Sophia means "wisdom" (greek origin) How wonderful is that?!

Thanks all, Okay, here's my other children's names. Micah(he's almost 7), Sariah (like Mariah with an S, is almost 5), and Isabella, will be 3 before the baby's born...
I liked Gabriella, my husband can't pronounce it, plus there's a cousin named Gabriel(boy).
Sierra doesn't work, because it's too close to Sariah.
Madison, Emma, and Abigail are all cousins too... My kids have a LOT of cousins!

My only suggestion would be to NOT to a funky spelling of a name. I detest that so much and it causes lots of hassles in school.

I don't like popular names so *I* would stay away from : Madison, Madeline, Kaitlyn, Mikayla. I think my 6 year old DD has 2 of each of them in her kindergarten class.

My DD is Riley. She is one of 3 in school but the others are boys LOL

I like Alexa. There's a really cute kindergartner in my girls school named Alexa....makes the name even cuter.

A few more:

Arianna
Alexia
Brianna
Leah
Kayla
Jada

I do like Olivia also, which was mentioned.

BTW, congrats!!

If we had one more..

It would have been Alexis. I liked "Alexis Rose" but then her initials would have been ARM.

I also love Kendall... but DH said it's a boy's name...

My DD is Rebecca. I love it because everyone can pronouce it and spell it, but there is only one other Rebecca in the entire school.

I personally would not go with a "high frequency" name. I had no idea "Nathan" would explode. He's had another one in his class every year. You know it's bad when he signs his cards to Grandma
"Nathan M."

We have a girl in my class named "Preston". I thought it was odd at first but she is adorable and it has really grown on me. I also like "Peyton" from "The hand that rocks the cradle." My DD had a friend named "Piper" and one named "Ripley". I always thought they were cute too.

Have fun.. our DDs name was easy for us.. but our DS was a day old before we agreed on something, and neither of us were ever crazy about it.

My son's name is Donovan and you still don't see many of those around. Glad I picked that over my other choice at the time which was Justin. I wanted something that wasn't REAl common. I would have blown that if I'd picked Justin. For girls there are so many. My son would have been Yvette Adrianna had he been a girl. I think Brianna is becoming very popular.

That's how it is here with Madison, Sam and Madeline...an initial after it. My son has 3 girls named Peyton in his grade and each spells it differently. I only know one Nathan...it's interesting how many names are most likely regional it seems. I am in CO. I have a son named Zachary and I thought it would be MUCH more common than it is...only 2 in the school (one being mine).

What's funny is when i was a kid, there were 4 Christine's in my class (that's just one class...one grade). So the teacher "reassigned" their names: Christine, Chris, Christy, Chrissy and those nicknames stuck until high school was out. Brandi was popular too as well as Shannon and Heather. I haven't come across one Chirstine, Brandi, Shannon, or Heather since my kids started school (and my oldest is 8). Also, Mike, Ryan, Chris and Brian were popular when I was young and only one of those names has come up in my son's school that I know of....Michael...and he moved LOL

What's the last name? Seems like they have to go together. For example, I think McKenna - or any Irish-Gaelic name - would sound kinda silly with a strongly Italian or Russian surname. Our last name is Slovac, and I thought it really limited my choices....Siobhan was out from the get-go. But that's just me.

I like Cecilia. I know an Italian woman - an engineering professor at Università di Bologna - with that first name. It is pronounced Cha-Cheel-ya though.

Congratulations!!!
I recently had triplets so I had a list of names in case it was three girls or three boys. We had two girls and one boy.
My daughter's names are Brenna Marie and Sophia Marie. I know Sophia is so popular but I just love that name. My other choices were: Hannah, Catalina ( my middle name), Catherine, Katie, Ava, Olivia. I loved the name Avery, DH did not at all. DH loved the name Rachael. I also love the name Emma but my cat's name is Emma so that was out!!
Also liked Emily, Lara and Syndey.

Good luck with names..

Maria

Wow, so many pretty names!

My sister and husband named their girl Erilyn. (Pronounced like "Marilyn", without the M") With a last name like Smith, they wanted a very different first name.

Ainsley and Avalon are pretty too.

How about looking at your family tree, and finding a name there?? Sometimes you find something in the middle name of close relatives. Sometimes you have to go back a bit, but really find some nice names, and I think it has more meaning if they have the name of a relative in their name somewhere.

My DS is named for my husband's middle name. It has turned out to be more of a popular name with young kids now, so DS is pretty much the only one with that name in his classes now. DD has her Great Grandmother's name (on both sides-they were both named the same thing) for her middle name.

I don't know what I would pick if I were in that position. A boy's name, hands down, would be Andrew.

I don't like "foo foo" priss names for girls either. Just reminds me of a few too many Miss Prisses I've met along the way.

We have an Alexia Renee and I have yet to hear anyone else around us named that so it is nice.
My sister's name is Alivia. I just love that name. My mom liked Olivia but my dad kept telling her, people would call her Olive so they decided to change it so it started with an "A".
