Need some ideas on the LCD/HDTV purchase

OK, if we have enough money left over from our tax return we are looking into getting a LCD Flat screen tv. We have checked all the Walmarts around our area and have seen a few good deals. We want something bigger then a 32", but less then $800. We saw one today it is a progection one for around $748 and its got the speakers as the stand. My hubby says although its a 52" and nice he wants one that he cant put on a tv stand, which I can understand. So the other one we saw was a regular LCD and it was around the same price and its a 37 or so inch. My mother-in-law has a 52" that she got at Best BUy but she spent over like 2000 on it!! I don't want to do that.

SO what I am wondering, Is anyone out there have one and have any recommendations on them? Which brands are the best, what size and so forth. We don't have digital cable yet thru our cable company but we will be swithing over if we get a new tv. Our neighbor spent some money on a 32" at Walmart but she doesnt have digital yet, so the shows are still fuzzy but she said DVD's and movies are GREAT on it for quality which I know, but I want some other opioins also.

Any advice??

Tv

My only advise is to make sure you get a service plan. You can not find anyone to service these TV's without it. We had a LG brand and it lasted 13 months. I would not recommend LG at all. We now have a Sharp AQUOS and like it.

It seems like brand is not so critical but features are. Make sure you get a 1080 either i or p but p seems unecessary. Do you know if you want an LCD or plasma. Many companies are phasing out the projection T.V. lines so be wary of them. We have a bright room so we need an LCD. Plasma may not last as long either but I think they look better. Whichever you want look at the viewing angle. Stand to the side to see where it looks good.

The size depends on budget and location. We have a 37 inch and its perfect for our room but we tried it in the family room and it seemed too small.

That being said we got an Olevia and are pleased.
You may want to talk to your local geek and see what they recommend for your situation.
