Do you find my avatar offensive??

I debated on whether I should use this or not, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am not trying to offend anyone. I can change it.

Not necessarily--he is THE President. He may or may not be the candidate the OP voted for....
He is everyone's President by default.

I found the picture freaking hilarious! And so true...

If you are an American, he is your president whether or not you voted for him and whether or not you like him. That is just a fact. George Bush is the president of the USA, like it or not!

I almost thought there wasn't much chance of this happening, and then just now my 14 YO son came up behind me, while I was reading the Britney thread, and said

"Hey, is that George Bush?"

I had to move it away, I said "Yeah, but it's not nice".

He said "oh".

So I guess valorian has a good point, and one that was just proven. LOL!

Ok, I actually respect President Bush. I do find it offensive HOWEVER I did chuckle at it. I laugh at George Bush jokes sometimes myself but I still like him. You don't have to change it. I hope that if Hillary or Obama get elected and someone decides to make fun of them YOU won't get upset! Fair is fair. Go McCain!!!

Yes.

You are being vulgar and tasteless and most importantly, showing public disdain for the President of the United States of America. While in office, this man leads the US. Our president represents the United States of America. Whether you like or voted for a particular president or not isn't the issue. The President represents America and if live in or visit the United States, then you should respect the office and the position he holds.

I think the very freedom that allows you to be so disrespectful is the very reason that you shouldn't be. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean that you SHOULD.

I don't like it. I think it's just an example of society now, that anything goes. He IS the president you know. Popular or not, he should be respected. But it doesn't freak me out or anything to see it.

True. And he's also got his head up his butt most of the time, too, whether you admit it or not!

OP, I LOVE your avatar. I see no reason to respect a man who has lied to Americans over and over again, started a war on false pretenses, is responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands, and has squatted on the Constitution for his own sick purposes. He might be president, but he doesn't have the respect of many people at all anymore. He's a sick, sick, sick puppy. Sadly, he's in a position to do a lot of people a lot of harm and he seems to revel in it.

All of this from a person that was so down on a little boy for being upset and crying because his friend's dad got killed in the war? And this boy's daddy is serving this country?

Oh yeah, and I enjoy being called a wimp!! LOL it gave me a good laugh.

Not awful, but sort of dated. It would have made a bit more sense four years ago. Also, there's a part of me that doesn't like seeing people wear their politics on their sleeve. I'd rather learn your views through through talking to you than from a bumper sticker, you know?

NO, I don't find it offensive, and I am a supporter of President Bush. I think it's pretty funny, and would think that we, as adults, could put it in proper perspective, and see it as a joke. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Am I concerned about my kids seeing it??? Nah. First of all, my kids never come to this sight on their own, and on the off chance they happened to see it while looking over my shoulder.....well, that's fine....we discuss pretty much everything with our kids, and help them to understand things. I'm just not concerned about that aspect of it.

i never pay much attention to them so I would have never noticed if you hadnt pointed it out. It dont bother me. If something like this bothers me, i just go on and ignore it. I think this whole nation is offended by something or the other.

I think it's funny. When Bush said, "I owe the people who put me in office..", I knew he wasn't my president.

For those who offended, it's a good thing that you can't see my calendars.

I respect your right to post it. Recently driving in traffic, a truck in front of me had one of those black stickers which I thought were like the other ones I'd seen. They have "W the President" on them. Well, this one had "F the President" on it.

As with you, I respect the right to freely express opinions. However, the truck was a vehicle for a real estate agent, with RE firm advertising on the tailgate and doors. The company is located less than a mile from our house and I watched this guy pull in the parking lot.

Whether I agree or disagree with you or the driver of the truck is a moot point because of the freedom issue. I do think, however, the potential of losing customers in his case was tremendous. I was also glad DS wasn't with me to ask what "F the President" meant. I would have lied and told him ,"He's Friendly the President. Kind of like Casper the Ghost!"

Happy2behere, you have every right to have what you want up. I stand behind you in your position. We all should respect her choice.

I don't care for it, and I wonder why you asked if we thought it was offensive? Did you?
I guess it is a respect issue, if you like it that is what matters.

I usually don't pay attention to the avatars. I don't find it offensive, however I have been told I have a very dark and odd sense of humor so things I may find funny and amusing may be offensive to someone else. IMO I think that now and days too many people are overly sensitive and get offended by almost the silliest little thing. People need to lighten up a little, we only live once and should enjoy life and not focus on feelings being hurt over silly little things

I just didn't want to step on any toes, what I find humorous might be offensive to others and I want to keep this a happy place and if my avatar is going to start mycoupons madness then I think I can find something else.

I probably will change it since some do find it offensive, it was all in fun. There are others that I just find them funny but I am not sure how others would react.

HATE? That's an awful strong word...

I don't think it's hateful or mean, but just a reflection of how some people perceive the President. Some feel he's an idiot...

Hateful would be calling the President a "honky cracker biggot" or something of that ilk. (and of all the thoughts and feelings I have about the President, I do not believe he is a biggot, and honky/cracker are slang derogatory words that I would never apply to the President...)

I do find it offensive.

Even if I were of a different political stripe, I believe it is not appropriate here. I'd feel the same way about an avatar that mocked - even comically - any issue that others might genuinely have heartfelt convictions about. Religion, nationality, political leanings... we all have them, all have feelings about them, and all feel a little bristle when something we care about is made fun of.

Do you have a right to use it? Sure.

Is it potentially unnecessarily divisive in this forum? In my opinion, it is.

I agree. I think he's a despicable human being but don't "hate" him. Actually I feel rather sorry for him.

To answer the question, I think it's rather tame compared to some I've seen but if it offends some board members, maybe you can use it only for posts on the election/politics board.

She didn't ask your opinion of President Bush but some people seem to never tire of saying the same things over and over again about what THEY think about him, even when not asked.

OP, it's your right to put whatever picture you want. Does it offend me? It doesn't offend me but since he is our President, I still think he deserves respect.

Well I have changed it, I don't think I am going to keep the one I currently am using but it will do until I find the one I want.

Everyone's opinions are appreciated.

While he may be the President--I do not RESPECT him. I RESPECT the office that he holds in that I realize what an awesome undertaking it s to be in charge. But, Bush has done nothing to earn my respect. He has done nothing deserving of my respect.

It's kind of like Catholic Priests--I respect the job that most do, but in no way would the Predator Priest deserve, nor should they be shown any respect.

To get respect, you must give respect. I do not feel that Mr. Bush has given any respect to the average every day citizen of this country.
