My 21-year old son was hit by a car early Sunday morning. He has multiple injuries, including skull fractures, face fractures, open fractures in both legs, and a fractured elbow. He has a bruised lung, a broken eye socket, and nose. He never regained conciousness after the accident, and has been sedated ever since. He's had one round of surgery on Sunday to put a drain in his skull, and put pins in his legs, He faces another round of surgery on Thursday, and then again a few days later. His brain injuries, of course, are the most serious. We won't know the extent until he wakes up, and they don't want him to wake up to relieve pressure on his skull. He's having more CAT scans and MRIs today. This was the nightmare I've been dreading since the day he was born. I can't believe I'm even writing this post. Please pray for him. Right now, there's nothing else that we can do.

Sending prayers and thoughts your way. A car accident just happened to my cousins son 3 weeks ago today. He has very serious brain injuries but is slowly coming out of it! I bet your son will pull through. Think positive thoughts, spend lots of time talking to him, and hang in there. I've been watching this first hand and I know how worried and scared you are. Josh's mom said the same thing-this is her worst nightmare come true. So hold on tight and hang in there!!!!!! Keep us posted.

Please keep those prayers coming because they seem to be working! The most recent CAT scan came back and it's good news - the bleeding in his brain has stopped and the pressure is normal. If he continues to remain steady for 24 hours, they'll remove the tube in his head. He's going to be undergoing a 5-hour surgery on his legs this afternoon, and if all goes well, (and with another surgery next week) he might actually be walking on them very soon. He's heavily sedated, so it's hard to access his neurological function, but they took him off the sedation for 2 hours today and he seemed to slowly start to respond to commands ("stick out your tongue," "show me two fingers," etc.) He's got a long road ahead, but with hard work and all your praryers, I know he'll make it. I know I don't need to tell you all how grateful I am to all of you for your support, but I will anyway. THANKS so much and I'll keep you posted.

I will keep him & your family in my prayers. This is a parents worse nightmare.

**********UPDATE*********

The second surgery on his legs went very well. The doctors removed him from all sedation and morphine yesterday afteroon, to try to get him to wake up. He seemed to be opening his eyes a bit last night. Although he's not responding yet to commands, I'm hoping that today we'll see some more progress. It's been a roller-coaster ride and he needs more surgery next week. He's got a feeding tube now, so he can finally get some nutrition. (The last thing he ate was a BigMac last Saturday. Isn't it strange how mothers are always worried about their kids eating?) I'm so appreciatve of everyone's concerns, and ask that you continue to pray for us.
