For Breakfast I ate????

whole wheat pancakes with syrup, with a bottle of water

Do you eat breakfast or are you a skipper????

I am always amazed when people tell me that they skip breakfast. I love having breakfast after I come back from walking. I normally don't eat this early, but its pouring out so I was unable to walk so I ate breakfast instead.

I always eat breakfast. I usually have a Weight Watchers english muffin w/egg beaters, and one slice of Canadian bacon. Sometimes, I add mushrooms, peppers and onions. Or once in a while I have oatmeal with fresh fruit, Kashi cereal or an english muffin w/peanut butter. My one mainstay is a cup of blackberry tea.
I work at a High School and I am amazed at the amount of kids that do not eat breakfast before school. Then to see what they eat for lunch (chips, ice cream). Very poor eating habits...

I get up around 6ish on work days. But I can't eat breakfast until I have been up a while. So I usually eat at my desk around 8:30/9 a.m. after I am at work.

Today I had cream cheese delights. Baked them yesterday when I stayed home because of bad/icy roads.

I was one of those people who didn't eat breakfast, I use to have just a cup of tea. But now that I am doing weight watchers I make it a point to eat a small breakfast. This morning I had a light english muffin with jelly and tea

I eat some sort of breakfast every morning, but I don't like normal breakast food. Today, I had a scoop of non-fat cottage cheese and 4 canned lite peach slices.

I tend to be a skipper......I'm trying to be better about, but it seems when I eat in the morns I always end up with a sour stomach.......

Today I had a cup of Hot Tea and 100 calorie nutter butter bar, but that was more because the meds I had to take for my head required some food in the tummy........

I have to take Thyroid meds, so I can't eat for at least an hour after taking it. Since I take it first thing in the AM..I usually sit down, have a cup of coffee, then go work out and then eat when done.
I had a Light N Fit smoothie before working out and then just just had a bowl of Special K with Skim milk.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Other great breakfast items to get my day off right:

3 egg whites with bell pepper and onion with a slice of dry whole grain toast. I also love the boca sausage patties, and when I can get to the right store to buy them, I will chop one up and throw that in my eggs.

Oatmeal w/skim milk. I cheat and do put brown sugar and raisins in it.

1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese and a 6 oz of yogurt. I mix the yogurt (peach I like best) with the cottage cheese. I love this! Probably my favorite breakfast.

Slim Fast powder, or EAS powder (light) to make a shake in the blender. I love the chocolate, so I get that and add a teaspoon of Natural Peanut Butter with Skim Milk. Tastes just like a Reeses peanut butter cup! Yum! I just bought the Slim Fast High Protein Powder, so I'm hoping that will be the best bet for me. I haven't used Slim fast in YEARS.

I'm usually a skipper, but today I was hungry so I ate leftover Popeye's red beans and rice.

I usually skip breakfast, mornings are pretty hectic at my house getting the girls out to the bus on time. I will have a cup o' joe, or a hot chocolate, but won't eat till lunchtime. BUT...today I was mighty hungry so I had a biscotti with my coffee.

I can't eat until I've been up for a while.. and if I do eat in the morning I'm not hungry for anything for lunch... not that I eat lunch much either lol.. most days it's just dinner.

When I was in high school I didn't eat breakfast and for lunch I'd have a soda (saved my money for buying tapes and CDs lol). I was quite upset when I discovered that my kids were buying sodas at lunch (along with their lunch tray at least...) but now I don't think they're offered.

So far, I have only had 6 mini Hostess chocolate donuts. Gasp! I am soooo weak! (I really shouldn't buy them....)

I have to take medication in the morning, so I needed something in my stomach.

I also have had 2 cups of coffee.

And when DS has breakfast, I will sit down with him and have a yogurt.

I had a couple of eggs with some whole wheat toast and a cup of tea.

I always drink tea, hardly ever coffee unless I am out at a Dunkin Donuts. I try to have something for breakfast everyday, but if I'm running late I just don't have time.

I do try to get the kids to always have something before they leave the house, even if it's just a yogurt or some melon and they always have a big glass of milk when they get up.

I use to take synthroid but my symptoms never went away. I finally went to a endocrinologist/oncologist and he prescribed me Cytomel, and I love it. I have never felt better and I was finally able to lose weight.

I start each morning with a 16oz glass of water and then do some yoga. After that I have a line up of different breakfasts that I choose from. This morning it was a sliced Jazz apple dipped in a Tbsp. of peanut butter.
I also like old fashion oats with dried berries.
A smoothie made with ff yogurt, oats and berries or other fruit
Cold cereal mixed into ff yogurt.
Eggbeater omelet with a bunch of veggies mixed in, that is for the mornings when I wake up really hungry.

And then, ahhhhh, the big cup of coffee.

I am curious about the Steel cut oatmeal. I haven't been able to find it at any of our local stores? Where did you find it, and does it taste different than regular oatmeal?

My DD's wanted cereal so I made them cereal and myself some toast. They ate most of my toast and I nibbled on some cereal. Typical ... other peoples food always tates better

Steel cut oatmeal is the best but it takes a long time to cook. We always get the McCann's brand irish oatmeal. It is a weekend or Holiday treat around here. I think you can get it frozen at Trader Joes but I haven't tried it.

I FINALLY was able to go to an endocrinologist last month. I had been beggint my doctor two years to refer me to the only dr in town. She just kept refusing.

I finally had to threaten her..LOL and she gave in. First I had to get all new blood work done (2nd time in six months) because she said she didn't want to look stupid for not doing everything and making sure.

Well, she looked stupid anyway, the endo said that she didn't even do the right blood tests. Duh!

I am now also looking for a new Primary Doctor. :-)

I am hoping he will help me. I am so tired of feeling tired and just not well.

Thanks for your post!!

Today I had Oat meal- the old fashioned kind, I added cinnamon, nutmeg, soymilk and a bit a sugar. In the winter time I have oatmeal pretty much everyday I add whatever I have to make it interesting- cranberies, walnuts, raisins, bananas, almonds, peaches etc. If I'm still hungry occasionally i'll add a piece of toast or english muffin. Sometimes (like once every couple months ) I'll have scrambled tofu with green peppers tomatoes and onions (yum!!). On the weekend i usually make dh homemade vegan pancakes.

In the summer my stomach never wants breakfast so I usually just have a big glass of water, small glass of juice and a piece of fruit (usually banana because they're inexpensive but i'm trying to begin eating only produce that can be grown locally so this summer it will probably be more apples) And I always take my multivitamin/mineral in the mornings.

Today - Valentines Day - I made fresh blueberry pancakes, bacon, sliced strawberries and bananas together. OJ with calcium, coffee for mom and dad -- hot chocolate for DS.

Several times a week we have have oatmeal. I make the 5 minute kind usually. Sometimes steel cut but that takes longer to cook. I add maple flavoring and raisins to our oatmeal. A little brown sugar too. Tastes great!! Sometime I use real maple syrup. Watkins sells some flavoring like walnut that can be tasty, but you don't really see Watkins in our area any more.

I feel better when I eat breakfast, and it helps me not to chow down too much the rest of the day. 8:30 at night is a hard time for me though!

I have never tried this, but if you like the steel cut oatmeal, I've heard you can put it and the water in the crockpot when you go to bed and it's perfect and ready to eat the next morning when you get up...

I always have breakfast. I am one of those weird people who can eat just about anything.

During the week, I have eggos, or toaster strudel with milk

On the weekend, muffins, egg white omelets, or whatever I am in the mood for.

If I didn't eat, I wouldn't make it though my morning.

I had my handful of vitamins, and meds, with a pot of coffee.
When I get to school, I will drink more coffee and bottle water and eat a English muffin.

I really can't stomach food that early in the morning.
today will be a tough day, kids get out at 11:00 for teacher in service. They will be a handful this morning. Because of the snow and ice, they only had 2 days of school this week.

I look so forward to having breakfast after I get my routine done (shower, makeup, hair, clothes) in the mornings. My favorite is steel cut oatmeal with a little granola put in it along with weight watcher bread, toasted. I never was an oatmeal eater until I tried the steel cut.

Good luck finding a new doctor! It seems hard to find one that actually listens these days. I sometimes think that primary doctors don't want to refer patients out if they don't think it necessary, I think they take it as a personal attack when you even mention it. But I think its almost necessary to see a specialist when dealing with thyriodism....it affects so many aspects of your body and health, you need to see someone who understands that...and doesn't think synthroid is medicine for everyone. I remember my endocrinologist telling me that over 95% of prescriptions written by a general practitioner for thyroid is synthroid. Good luck, keep me posted on how its going and if you start feeling better.

This is a bit embarrassing since I try to feed my fam well (organic stuff, home cooked meals, etc.) , but this morning I had 3 Oreos and a few cups of coffee. It was wonderful ;-)
Hey - I've had a rough week, it was an Oreo morning.

McCann's Irish Oatmeal (steel cut oats) can be found in many grocery stores. Ask the manager of your local grocery store to order this if they don't carry it. I've had good luck doing this.

Steel cut oats require long cooking time... Just so you know! I think the crockpot way is the Alton Brown way. Oh my -- it takes him 24 hours to make pizza!

I usually eat whatever is easiest and quickest -- yogurt w/ fruit and mueslix or granola and soy milk w/ bananas or leftover whatever from the fridge, etc. I love, love, love eggs but limit because of high cholesterol, sigh.

I get in such a hurry in the morning (I am the living definition of 'morning person') and even when I have nowhere to go, nothing to do, I still tend to 'forget' to eat breakfast unless my DH -- who is afraid of me when I have low blood sugar -- puts breakfast in front of me. Such a sweetheart!

I found the Steel Cut Oatmeat at the Commissary in the aisle with the Boost, Glucerna, etc., in the section with the "health food" stuff. It is Bob's Red Mill brand. The directions to cook it are on the back....3C water, 1/4tsp. salt, and 1C of the steel oats, cover and cook 10-20 mins., let stand 2min.

I didn't make it this morning, DH made pancakes instead

My 13 YO dd had 2 friends spend the night last night. DH was teasing them last night about earning their keep so they had to make breakfast. This morning they said they wanted to!!! My dd does NOT cook (other than to occasionally make herself frozen pizza or mac & cheese or something and rarely clean up after hefself without threatening her)! So I am smelling scrambled eggs & pancakes being made! Very unusual in this house as I do all the cooking. I'm so excited!

Muesli-Old Country Style was originally developed by a Swiss nutritionist at the end of the 19th century, and remains one of the world’s most popular cereals. Our fantastic Muesli is a tasty blend of rolled oats, wheat, rye, triticale, barley, almonds, date crumbles, raisins, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. This satisfying cereal can be served hot or cold, eaten as a nutritious snack, mixed with yogurt or other cereals, or used in baking.
you can buy it in most grocery store in the health food section!
I buy it by the case shipped free from amazon grocery!
