Jewelry... or not?

This is a spinoff from a post in another thread (What item do you own that you would be heart broken if it was lost?)...

I wear earrings sometimes but only smallish ones and rarely do I wear any extra rings (other than my wedding/engagement band), don't wear bracelents or necklaces, and don't wear a watch at all now that I have a cell phone.

Many of my friends in my life have been sooo into jewelry and I just can't relate. When I go shopping with them and they want to stop at a jewelry store, I get really bored and it's hard for me to jewelry shop!! I guess it has something to do with my frugality, I don't know??? Sigh.

Are you into jewelry or not? or am I alone?

Not even slightly into "real" jewelry. I have some nice dangly earrings that my sister made, but the stones are not precious (or only semi-precious, which I know aren't jewelry-store stones).

I would like an anniversary band someday, but that's only because I have three daughters, and only 2 rings to leave behind! LOL!

Real jewelry doesn't even get my attention. I would have no business hanging out in a jewelry shop.

I love to look at nice jewelry but I never wear it and am much too frugal to buy anything that I would actually want. I have a few nice peices put away and that is where they will stay. I never even wear my engagement ring or even my wedding ring anymore. I have a bit of arthritis and my fingers swell and rings are uncomfortable. I did at one time wear earings and other jewlry but having kids broke me of the habit.

I love jewelry!!!!! I love everything from the real stuff to costume jewelry. It makes me feel so girly when I wear it, and I think it finishes off an outfit beautifully. I'm a BIG emerald nut.....I truly wish DH would of given me an emerald engagement ring instead of a diamond, but since it was his grandmothers....he wasn't about to replace the stone But he has promised me that I can get a emerald anniversary band, instead of the traditional diamond one....only problem is he hasn't said when I am going to get....he has been saying that for the last five years

Now on a typical day, I wear my engagement/wedding band, white gold hoops or emerald studded earrings, an emerald shaped heart necklace (DH gave me when he returned from Korea, a 1 yr deployment), a watch, and my emerald tennis bracelet. Now if we are going out, it all depends on what I am wearing. Like I said I love all jewelry so normally its beads or something that matches my outfit.

I say buy pieces you love.....when dealing with real jewelry....even if it means costing more. If you love it, you are more likely to wear it and get more use out of it.

I only wear earrings right now (well, my watch too), in the winter my hands get so dry that even taking off my wedding rings to apply lotion is a killer. So I don't wear them in the winter. Occasionally I will wear a ring I won in a local radio contest several years back, it's diamond and tanzanite...it's very pretty and if we go out someplace nice I'll wear it. I was really into bracelets not too long ago but I've stopped wearing them. Necklaces...I can take em or leave em.

I wear my wedding bands, and engagement. I just received a new ring for valentines day, I guess it will replace all my rings on my left hand. I have R.A. arthritis so my rings are snug going over the knuckle but are lose around the bottom.

I do wear earrings all the time, I am into white gold or platinum. I have 2 holes in my cartilage and the normal ear lobes. The cartilage I wear my small diamonds...... I have short hair so they do look nice. I am into my rings.... I just love them I love sapphires but some look too dark or too light. I guess I need to go and get my nails done soon, so my rings look nicer!.lol

I used to be into gold, but those days are long over. I dont even wear all the gold I have , would love to have it all melted down for my sons.

What more could a lady want?? some want jewelry some want other stuff.

I wear my wedding band/engagement ring on my left hand, a sterling silver moon & star ring on my right hand, my watch on my right wrist and I usually wear a necklace - almost always my crystal w/sapphire (not a real one ;-) banded around the top of it. All 18 of my body jewelry are stainless steel - all captive bead rings except for the horshoe in my septum and the barbell in my eyebrow. I'm not very big on wearing alot of jewelry other than the *permanent* stuff

Well I don't wear earrings to work because answering the phone all day and hugging the phone between your ear and the shoulder just doesn't work when you have earrings in. So I always have to pop them through when I dress up and wear earrings on the weekend.

I haven't been wearing my wedding rings to work lately - just don't think about putting them on in the mornings.

On my right hand I have several sterling silver rings I alternate - depending on my mood and how dressed up I am. Kohls has killer sales on sterling silver rings, then I have a QVC diamonique ring from ebay, then a couple from Lia Sophia and jewelry parties.

If I'm dressing up, I usually find a bracelet to match my outfit but ever since my thyroid surgery, necklaces just bother my neck area.

And like one of the other posters, since I have a cell phone, don't wear my watch anymore.

I don't wear any jewelry at all. I can't wear earrings, my ears get so sore after about an hour and I have tried every kind.
I don't even wear a wedding band, been married almost 10 years.
No watch either.
I don't wear any make up either. It is really nice to be very low maintenance.

I have an anniversary band that I wear everyone once in a while, I rarely wear a watch (use my cellphone for time) I have a locket and cross that are dear to me, that I wear on a chain everyday (it never comes off) I do love anklets, but wear the same few all the time.....I don't care to look at jewlery, what I have were all presents and mean something because they represent a memory to me........

On my right hand I wear a wide filigree band set with a marquis diamond, on my left a tension set marquis with a channel setting underneath,, medium size chunky gold hoops for earrings, and my 25 yr old Timex watch with leather band. That't my daily wear. None of it comes off except to lotion and the watch to shower.
When going out I add 4 broad gold bangles and a wide byzantine link bracelet.
All yellow gold and all real.
All these pieces are special to me and I will literally wear them out. Other than that jewelry doesn't really interest me.
Oh and all my pieces were purchased at pawn shops.

Same on all of that lol

I own a wedding ring (just gold, don't like diamonds so didn't see the point in buying any)

And my husband surprised me a few years ago with an emerald set (earrings, ring and necklace) which I've worn probably 3-4 times.

And there's my high school class ring which was all of $100 or so because it's all fake stuff and not from Jostens

I like jewelry - real or costume. I wear more of it during the school year because of work. Daily I wear my diamond anniversay band, diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band. On my right hand I wear my pink sapphire and diamond ring that I got for Christmas. I have earrings and a necklace that match the pink sapphire ring that I wear at least once a week. I have a blue sapphire and diamond necklace that dh bought me 15 years ago when he ws in Israel. I have a diamond and pearls set of matching necklace, bracelet and earrings (I wore them today) For our anniversay in August DH is buying me diamond studs. I'll probably get 3/4 carat for each lobe. I also have a gorgeous Tiffancy & Co heart necklace and bracelet in sterling silver that I wear a lot in the summer. I love the look of silver against my tan skin.

I have a good bit of costume jewlery. I adore bracelets and earrings. I love to accessorize with necklaces, earrings, bracelts, pins, belts.

I own a Gucci bangle watch that I never wear. In fact, I own several watches - I just never wear them.

I love watches - especially bangle watches. I probably have about 15 watches that I mix and match with my clothing and other jewelry. I like to wear bracelets on the same wrist on my watch.....currently, I like to wear stretchy seed bead bracelets.

I went most of my adult life thinking that I couldn't wear earrings. My ears always got red and oozy. Ugh. Now I wear them all the time...only thing is that have to be wires that pass through the ear. No posts! Now, I have probably 100 pairs of earrings - costume and sterling - all wire, dangly kind of things. I'm making up for a lot of years of unused ear holes.

Other than that, I'm very low maintenance. No makeup, no manicures, no hair gel or spray.

I love jewelry. I own mostly sterling except for wedding band and diamond in white gold but I don`t wear them. I love sterling silver rings and bangle bracelets. I wear a sterling silver mickey Mouse head I got at Disney around my neck. No earings (let them close years ago) No make-up dont go to hairdressers. I wear my hair long and up in scrounchie. Plain jane. Takes me all of 5 minutes to dress in my tee`s and jeans.

I'm not at all into jewelery, but the few pieces DH has given me over the years, (and only one has cost anything substantial for our budget) are dear to me cuz he picked them w/me specifically in mind.
If I lost them, oh well, they're only *things*. But I do still enjoy them.

During the winter I don't wear my rings because they're very loose and I don't want to loose them (well, my engagement ring with belonged to DH's grandmother). I have a sterling sliver cross earring that I never take out and a pair of earrings that my dad gave me that never come out either. I also have a cross necklace that stays on also. I have other necklaces and rings that DH has gotten me and will wear them occasionally. I'm not high maintenance either. Takes me maybe 10 minutes to get ready to go somewhere.

I love my jewerly. For daily wear I wear my engagement ring/wedding band, diamond anniversary band, diamond hoop earrings and my journey necklace. I also have a gold/diamond heart necklace that I wear occasionally. I always get complements on it because it is different from the normal heart necklace. I have several nice diamond cocktail rings for when we got somewhere very nice. I have lots of bracelets but for some reason they started irritating me so I quit wearing them. Have never worn a watch don't like them personally. Maybe it's something with my wrists, maybe I just have an aversion to things on my wrists.

I could spend hours in a jewerly store trying on rings and necklaces.

I'm with you MyTime. I truly love jewelry and wear as much of it as often as I can. Since I retired after my job of 30 years in which wearing rings would have damaged them, my job now with as a sales rep for a newspaper and magazine I can wear my stuff everyday. Recently my mother passed away and I took her diamond pendant and had a jeweler friend of mine do up a beautiful pendant for me. Just last week I took him her 3 other diamond solitaire rings and he is going to do all 3 stones up in one ring for me to wear on my middle finger. Also I enjoy sterling silver and costume jewelry to match every outfit. Sometimes my hubby doesn't understand all of the attraction to the shiny stuff.

I have so much "good" jewelry. I just got a 1 carat diamond ring for V-Day to add to my collection.

I don't ask for anything else during the year. But for Christmas and our anniversary I like to get jewelry. I very rarely buy myself ANYTHING, even if I NEED it.

Jewelry, especially diamonds are my thing! LOL

I have to add, I won't buy it for myself. I would never spend that much money on myself! LOL

I have an inherited diamond ring I'm too afraid to wear, but I wear earrings most days, and often necklaces and rings. I make a lot of what I have, and started doing so when I realised I could make beaded rings on stretchy cord that would fit over my grandmother's arthritic fingers. I mostly use sterling silver, glass, gemstones, and occasionally copper, so I stick to tiny pieces so I can afford the hobby. Sometimes, I'll just buy cheap earrings, and attach silver hooks, to replace the cheap metal ones they came with.

I love sparkly crystals, and brightly colored stones, but I don't like expensive jewelry, and I don't like wearing anything I'd seriously worry about losing. When I was still making stuff for my grandmother, I used to order little swarovski crystals and cubic zirconia, so she could have something flashy on her hands, without worrying about how she'd get it off again. When she died and I still had rings I hadn't had time to send her, I gave them to a friend, whose grandmother's in a nursing home, and not allowed to keep good jewelry. She was apparently thrilled at having something she could keep with her. Jewelery should be fun, rather than a source of stress.

I only wear diamonds, I have my wedding & engagement ring and a diamond anniversary ring. I also have a smaller band of diamonds that I wear most of the time, but that's it for now. I only wear earrings if I wear my hair up, because I feel naked with nothing and that's either diamonds or gold hoops, but they come off as soon as I get home usually. DH gave me a gold watch that I was wearing for a while, but stopped recently and can't get back into that habit.

Some people look great in jewelery, but I feel flashy and I'm just not a flashy person.
