Can you tell when you are in a bad mood...

...or does someone have to tell you that you are grumpy?

I'm one of these happy-go-lucky sort of people and sometimes, I get grumpy. For sure the day before my monthly cycle I'm an obsessive compulsive grouch. Any and every day if I skip breakfast, things go south quickly.

Do you know your bad mood triggers? Can you fake your moods? Or are you a terrible actress/actor?

I don't know... this question came to me when I read the 'what did you have for breakfast?' thread... thinking about my poor DH having to put breakfast in front of me so as to protect himself from the low blood sugar 'Cuthie Monster'.

I know when I'm in a bad mood, and I warn people (DH, DS, students at school). I tell them that I'm in a bad mood and feeling grouchy...so try not to cross my path.

I figure that they've been warned...and then it's all up to them. LOL

when everything I do doesn't suit me then I get this ache between my eyes from snarling . I wasn't aware I was becoming a grouch until then. Then I try to back off from the situation some and refocus. Of course caffin and chocolate also help

Like Cuthie, I tend to be pretty happy go lucky but, Oh boy, lack of sleep in our house will turn either one of us into a grumblebutt. We are both people that need a minimum of 7 hours a night. Less than that and we tend to be a little edgy.

And if the one suffering doesn't recognize it we will usually make editorial comments like, "Well sunshine, I guess some days ya just can't help being a poophead". It usuallly makes the crabby one ratchet it down a notch.

I'm usually pretty easy going, but l have my moments! I usually warn the kids, and they know by now to avoid me at all costs! My stress level has been a lot higher the last few months, so I guess I have had more of my moments then normal, and there have been a few times that kids just look at me, tell me I'm being an Oscar! (after oscar the grouch)

My moods swings have levelled out as I have gotten older, but I still have some days that everyone should watch out for. And most of the time I'm not really sure what triggers it.

I do know that if I drink any kind of whiskey or bourbon product, that I am hell on wheels for a couple of days after, so I really avoid them for that reason. Love the smell, like the taste but I have to stick to rum or tequilla. I get really really mean, not just grumpy. This makes it sound as if I drink all the time, which truth be told, is not the case. Once or twice a week is about my limit. Wine gives me headaches in the warm months, but not so much in the cold weather. That's allergies.

I also find that if I have been out for the day, when I come home, I get irritated at small things. My husband didn't get the mail, didn't take a message, screwed up something and my world goes topsy turvy. I have no idea why I do that. I get annoyed at some of these things during a normal day, but not to the extent that they annoy me if I've been out of the house.

I can tell right away, I usually become more critical, and my posts on message boards will reflect it. I will usually stop and think.. is it about that time of the month? And sure enough, it always is. LOL

For the most part I am in a happy place, but when I can tell when I am not. The problem is when I know I am not in my happy place, I still say whatever is on my mind. Not truly caring of the repercussions of those actions, thank goodness I don't have them very often

Every month about a few days before my period, I am a grouchy bear! I usually don't notice it until a day or so in and realize how moody I have been. Duh!

Oh yeah, I can tell right away. The poor kids are the ones who generally see it first hand, I am short and just not patient at all and am in no mood to hear bickering or fighting. I'll even call and warn DH to stay at work, I am in a BADDDD mood, then we get a laugh at it and I usually feel better. A good sense of humor goes a long way around here.
