homeowners insurance?

I live in MI and my homeowners insurance is due in 1 month. I would like to switch companies (for a lower rate) but have no idea who to go with. I have Hanover (Citizen's) right now and I know I can do better. Any suggestions??

Both our auto and homeowners insurance is thru Electric Insurance. I think they are owned by GE, but you do not have to be a GE employee to get insurance. I couldn't find another company that even close to what we pay with them. You can go on line and get a free quote.

We have allstate for our automobiles and home and it's really very inexpensive! We've been very happy with their service and everything.

We have Anpac for our auto and home (Insurance solutions for auto, home, classic cars, RVs, motorcycles, boats, and so much more.). We couldn't find better rates with anyone else. We have our 2 autos, motorcycle and house plus an $1M umbrella policy and it's less than just auto with other companies. Extra bonus is that if you go "claim free" for 3 years, you start earning 25% of your premium back. In a little less than a year we will be getting back $589 *knock on wood*. Great customer service too. I have a local rep I call

I think it varies because Allstate and State Farm were above and beyond the highest quotes we got back but I know people who have lower rates....

Many states have a rating system for insurance companies. You might check that before deciding. You want a financially sound company and a company that pays it's claims without a lot of fuss should you need it. Go with the best price on a high rated company. They are all more than happy to give you quotes.

Becky you are the first person I've ever heard who was happy with Allstate. They are near the top of my "No Way In Hell" list of insurance companies. But I might also add, that I think companies are different in different states. It depends on the state and how close a watch they keep on the insurers and what kind of laws they have in place to protect you.

It's an important decision, so do some homework.

We have Travelers through an independent agent. It was almost half of what we had previously through American Family.

We had Allstate for a while when we lived in Texas and they are the worst ever! I so agree with Wildwood - no way in hell would we ever have them again!

I also have Travelers for Home and Auto. It has been about 10 years and they are great! They are much cheaper than Allstate, which I had before.

We use AAA for home/auto. They run inexpensive in comparison to many others and have come through quickly and hassle free on claims.

When we lived in Michigan, we had AAA group insurance through our credit union. We had auto & homeowners through them for a great price because it was with a 'group'. Check with your local credit union and see if they offer the same deal.

We are in GA now and have Allstate. They were the lowest quote we got when we moved here. We've been happy with them. We've had to file two auto claims with them and didn't have any problems.

We have State Farm for Homeowners and motorcycle insurance and they were the cheapest in the area for us. I just call around and ask for a quote when I am shopping, I don't know if they check your credit though for a quote?

Our car insurance is through Liberty Mutual.

Liberty Mutual. We get a reduction for having all our insurance with them. Plus, my company has some sort of deal with them, so I get an additional 10% reduction just for working where I do.

Check to see if the company that you or your spouse works for has this type of setup.

We have our insurance though Erie. Everything is insured though them....the house, vehicles, boat, etc. I have checked around many times and can't find anything cheaper (without raising our deductible)! I'll probably check again soon (I checked about 2 years ago) because my DD will be getting her learners permit in August and OMGoodness....I dread seeing what it will be adding a teenager onto the policy! I have heard horrible stories that when you add a teen, the insurance premium DOUBLES!

State Farm here

We have all our insurance thru State Farm here in MN. We are renting so we don't have homeowners but we do have renters insurance incase anything happens to our place.

We also have two cars (on is sitting in SC still lol), both our life insurance policies and the renters thru them. I have had State Farm since I had my first car since my dad and stepmom was with them. I have done other quotes thru different companies but since they now go on past credit history, I am better off with what Ihave now. I am happy with my agent and the price I pay for it all. I've have them for the past 7-8 years now.

We went through an independent agent who checked a lot of compaies for us and we went with Kemper. Good reputation and very resonable. I highly recommend you find a local independent agent. They will also help you out if you have issues with the insurance company since they do not work directly for them.
