When things go so wrong...

Ok, I need to know what all of yall do when you have had a day that is so bad, you are afraid to ask what next. This has been a day from hell, and I'm starting to think that maybe I don't want to know what's next. So how do you deal with it? Maybe there's something out there that I just don't know about.

I remind myself that life is 10% circumstance and 90% attitude. I remind myself that everyone goes through hardships and that I am blessed.
I remind myself it's not what life "does" to me it's how I react and handle situations that determines my level of happiness, frutstration, etc.

I tell myself - good or bad - everything's a phase and this, too, shall pass....

Count your blessings out loud. For example:

I am thankful that the screaming child who just headbutted me has healthy lungs as evidenced by his/her screaming.

I am thankful the hot coffee I just dumped on my desk means I have a job for which I am paid and have the ability to buy more coffee.

I am thankful for squeaky windshield wipers for now I don't have to water the flowers and I am mindful that I can drive and not have to walk or take a bus.

I am thankful for the occasional bad days for they help me to remember the mycoupons family has their arms under me and are doing their best to prop me up.

OP, hope your day gets better.

My mantra "This, Too, Shall Pass"

Really! Hang in there! And take Kathytheshopper's advice, also!

We've all been there

I try to think about how much of it will be important to me a year from now. I don't know what type of day you've had, so this may or may not work.

Yall are all so nice!!! Great advice, too. Of course today was worlds better! It is so true, the saying about "This too will pass". And sometimes you do just to have to throw your hands up and say oh well, I did my best. But thank yall for understanding and being so nice. We really have a nice group of people here!! It's nice to know after a day like that, that I can come to this board and have total strangers emotionally lift me up. I don't even remember how I got started coming to this board, but I am so thankful that I did. Thanks again!!

Glad your new day was brighter, ballmom! Hope the next one is brighter yet.

"This too shall pass" is a good one. Sometimes I also remind myself that God wouldn't give me more than I can handle. And last but not least, is learning to not worry or obsess over the things that I was powerless to change, but focus on the things that were in my control.

My day started out pretty badly yesterday. We're leaving for vacation in 2 weeks, for a weeklong cruise and 5 nights in Florida afterward. While getting my vacation folder ready yesterday, rechecking maps and directions, etc, I found that our hotel had changed hands and we no longer had a reservation.
I freaked. It was one of those stays where you stay for a discounted rate, but have to look at a timeshare resort property while you are there. I called them and they ended up putting us up in a 1 bedroom villa, with a balcony, complete kitchen, laundry, livingroom, bedroom etc for the five nights. All for a little over 150 for the entire stay. Talk about lemons turning into lemonade! I am one happy camper!

Another one of my favorite mantras (besides 'this too shall pass'... like that one devinmom) is 'don't sweat the small stuff'. If I really sit back and look at the big picture, it seems that often the things that are really bothering me and going wrong are *small*. That really seems to put things into perspective for me.

I'm glad that things are going better and that you felt like you could come here for advice. Take care.
