Holy Moly!! Can you imagine?

Python stalked, then ate family dog - Asia-Pacific - MSNBC.com

Python stalked, then ate family dog in front of children.

I found this on msn.com What do you suppose Mom and Dad are doing to help these children cope with what they saw?

I read about this on comcast news. Horrifying to say the least. As sad as it is, the family knew that the snake was stalking the dog as the snake was found in the dog's bed a few days earlier. Does that mean that this little chihuahua was an outdoor dog? How can that be? Anyway, the family could have taken measures to insure that nothing was going to happen to that tiny dog since they already knew about the python.

So sad that once the snake got a hold of the dog, there was really nothing they could do.

While this is totally disgusting, the family knew the snake was there and stalking the dog. They should have called someone to come get the snake before this happened.

It's sad but maybe snakes are pretty common in Kuranda for me having an alligator in the back yard would be troubling, for people in the southern states like Florida and Louisiana ect they know they could be there and to watch out for them. The story doesnt say if they have a house or if it was a hut

FORGET ABOUT THAT DOG !!(Yes I have small dogs also. ) What about the small Children ?? Holy Cow !! 16 feet long ??? I would be scared to death if the snake didn't get what it was 'After" it would come after my kids. A snake that hungry to be stalking a dog for days is a Hungry snake. Even tho is Usual for snakes to eat Humans that snake might not think about this as a afterthought, He's hungry and looking for FOOD any kind of food. No thank You !! I would, have shot or killed or called someone to remove it jsut from the fright of it might be after my kids .

I read this right before lunchtime...blah. Needless to say, I didn't have much of an appetite. It made me sick. These people must be nut jobs having a python around with small kids. They should be lucky that the snake didn't eat the kids. If they knew that the snake had been in the dogs bed a few days prior, what did they think was going to happen? What mental cases. Poor dog! ~Lisa

I really think that the kids wouldn't be preyed upon because of their size (but not exactly sure how old the kids were). Now a baby is a different story and is small enough for the snake to attempt. Years ago, I saw a story on Dateline about a snake (must have been some sort of python, or brown snake maybe) that somehow got into a baby's crib and had half of the infants leg in its mouth before parents discovered it. I think part of the baby's leg had to be amputated.

Anyway, I still would not let my children or pets near the snake. The minute that they were aware of the snake, they should have called animal control to remove it.

This the same people?
620 KMNS, THE FOX

it ate the rest of the animals in the house and the dog was being stalked, and they didnt call the zoo til the dog got ate. Just the sound of the guinea pigs squeals would have had me in tears and a dead snake. We have 3 g. pigs and their part of our family just like our dog.

IMHO, there's a handful of descriptions for this mom and dad. Moron is putting it nicely. I don't understand why the snake was in the house. Was it a "pet" also? What person with even minimal intelligence lets a snake like this stay in the house or even be nearby outside the house? Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Uhhh . . . . I'm not even sure where to start with this one. How many of your animals have to get eaten before you decide there's a problem? How have your children survived this long? Why not seek help, especially if you live in a country where snakes are common? Here, the police are prepared to deal with snakes, even though most of what we see are rattlesnakes, not giant constrictors.
