Angry Principal arrested for child seduction

Fort Wayne assistant principal arrested for child seduction

Associated Press - February 28, 2008 12:34 AM ET

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - An assistant principal at a Fort Wayne high school has been arrested on two counts of felony child seduction.

The school told police he admitted to a relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Thirty-6-year-old Kristopher Sennett was being held on two $2,500 bonds last night at the Allen County Jail. The jail had no record of an attorney for him.

Sennett was suspended with pay from his job after the girl's parents told officials at Wayne High School that they were concerned he and the girl were planning to run away with each other. Officials say they found e-mails and correspondence between the two, including a Valentine's Day card they believed he gave her.

Child seduction carries a penalty of up to one year in jail upon conviction.

Disgusting!

And this suspended with pay is BS. If I was a parent in that school district I would be up-in-arms that my tax dollars are paying for that scum-bag to have a "paid vacation". I hope they throw the book at him.

I think they suspend with pay until they know it is true?

I hope the pay ends with the arrest.

I think an adult his age should KNOW better???

Sadly really sadly this has become epidemic in my personal experience.
My DD's ex-bf was a predator in his church (he was a student leader in several groups),
her youth group leader in another church was fired for his online addiction and seduction,
her bestfriend's hs band teacher (Lancaster, PA) was recently caught with his underage drum majorette having sex in his car at the local friendly's parking lot during the DAY!
and her other friend's hs theatre teacher was fired due to his attempted seduction of several students.
The list goes on an on.
We need to be vigilant, we need to be outraged! This activity continues because of silence.....no one wants to rat on them. People saw that band teacher kissing his student and DID NOTHING until finally 2 YEARS LATER---she was still 17 (they had an affair from when she was 15! and he has a wife and baby) the cops had to find him.
So silence lets these predators continue.

Am I surprised that this principal did this, no. Am I outraged, YES!

Going after someone who's seventeen and consenting is sleazy, and shows an almost complete lack of judgment, but it's not quite the same thing as molesting a child, or forcibly raping someone. The legal problem, as I understand it, is that the principal was in a position of trust, not that the student was too young -- a quick search suggests that she wasn't.

I suppose I see most of the problem here coming from pure stupidity. The principal knew what was required of him in his job, should have been aware of the law, should have known how to conduct himself -- and ended up behaving like one of his students. Definitely not someone who deserves to be teaching, but I reserve fear and indignation for those who use force and coercion, and who stalk literal children. This guy just gets a whole lot of disdain.

Am editing this because I don't want it to seem creepy. I agree that what happened was absolutely wrong, and don't want to sound like I'm defending this guy, I just think there are worse crimes out there. I've also been in high school recently enough to know that a lot of the students are up to things they shouldn't be, but that doesn't mean it's okay for a figure of authority to involve himself too!

I am in Ft Wayne and it was on our local news tonight that he had gone to a motel with the girl.

Only heard a bit of the report but I thought they said they talked to a neighbor who said her kids played with his children.

If he is married I sure pity his wife.

Me, too. Apparently, he's married with two children and another on the way. That poor woman!

Sennett, according to a MySpace page containing his name, is married and has two children. According to a MySpace page containing his wife's name, she is pregnant.

We had an incident here a few years ago. One of our Police Dept Sergeants (29 yrs old), had an affair with one of our High School students, who was 17.
She was bragging one day about the affair, and pulled out a bullet that he gave her out of her jacket to show some kids in the middle of a class period. The teacher sent her to the office to talk about it. They turned it over to the police. In the interim, this officer talked to her and told her not to disclose any information about their affair when the police came to question her.

He was arrested not for underage seduction, or the fact that he showed an obvious abuse of power (we live in a small village of 6000 people), but for obstuction of Justice!
He was put on PAID suspension, and then the case was thrown out of court!!!

ROCKFORD Obstruction of justice charges were dismissed Wednesday against a Rockton police officer after he resigned, though his attorney said there is no connection between the two events. Arraignment for Rockton police officer continued

ROCKFORD The arraignment of a Rockton police officer on charges of solicitation to obstruct justice has been continued to next week. Daniel Schroeder was arrested March 1 by Illinois State Police, who had been investigating him since mid-January. According to court documents, Schroeder instructed a 17-year-old girl a witness in the investigation against him to lie to state police about the nature of their relationship by saying she only fantasized about having sex with him. Schroeder also....

What is the world coming to when people in obvious positions of power can influence a young adult and then walk away scott free?

He also was allowed to get his pension from the Police Department, roughly $50,000 as soon as he resigned and his charges were dismissed.
