Taste of Home Cooking Show-? Been there

Has anybody been to the Taste of Home Cooking Show?
Our nearest one is 2 hours away. Some years these are great and others they are not. Did not want to make the trip and find out this years was not that good. A few years ago, I signed up to be one of the helpers. It was an awesome experience!

I have been to 3 shows but they were a 20 min. drive. If you love cooking and made it a fun trip with a friend I would drive that far. For me who is not a big cooker I would not drive that far for only that. Have fun if you decide to go though and driving that far I would be there as soon as they opened the doors to experience it all.

I saw your post and went to check out the schedule for my town...seems they have cut it from the schedule...

It just seems odd to me, since they always end up closing the doors on people, because it is too full...and we are not close to any other towns having a show

Hmmm....guess I won't be going this year

My dd and I went last year. We had a wonderful time and some nice freebies. I just looked today for this years schedule but no shows are schedules near enough to go, especially with the price of gas.
I can't wait for the next show here.

They usually have a show here or at least a little closer. Ours is usually packed also, unsure how or why they pick towns. Just did not know if it was worth it with the price of gas now! Did not know if the freebies would make up for the cost.
Thanks for the info!

I have been to three of the Taste of Home Cooking shows. As a reporter for the local paper that sponsored the shows, I had a blast! I got to see all the behind-the-scenes preparation, as well as watch the show, and interview and talk with the home economists... I loved all the shows I went to- got some great new recipes, and lots of nice freebies! I recently quit my job to stay at home with my newborn but look forward to going to the next show in town!
