The Five Senses - which is your strongest?

Do you have one sense that is stronger than the others? One that you rely on without fault?

Personally, it's the sense of smell that is strongest with me. For example, I have a really hard time at the gym when someone next to me has BO or garlic breath or is wearing too much perfume. I have to use unscented everything, cuz even laundry soap smells make me crazy.....

What's your strong sense - if you have one?

Just depends on what I'm doing at the time:
As a dispatcher my sense of hearing was heightened. I learned to listen to phone calls, radios and whatever else was going on in the room.

As an EMT-probably my sense of smell as that was a really good indicator of certain things, but I depended heavily on my sight as well as I had to look at the whole situation and not get tunnel vision. And of course, the sense of touch was important.

Now, my sense of hearing because I have to make a lot of determinations based on what I'm told or not told by individuals.

And of course, if I'm with my husband and/or partner(s) my sense of touch is the most important. (yeah, pick that sentence apart, I know *some* people will!)

Mine is also smell. I wear two hearing aids so it SURE ISN'T HEARING! LOL! In fact, as my hearing got worse, my sense of smell increased. I had heard of that happening, but now I know it's actually true!

mdrpooh....maybe you're on to something there as to why my sense of smell seems to be going out of control. at my age, i'm losing my eyesight (why do you have to hold things farther away to see them??? LOL) and ever so slightly my hearing as well. never thought about it that way - thanks!

LOL.....funny story.....whenever I would think I smelled smoke or something burning while driving, I had to turn down the radio. DH asked me one time what I was doing......made perfect sense to me. Like a blind person has much better (much more keen) sense of smell, etc.

Mine is most definitely sound, DH says the next door neighbors could flush the toilet and I could hear it. I think it has only gotten stronger, with having DS.

Smell.

A good smell can give me such a lift, and a bad smell can gross me out long after the scent is only a memory to others...

Mine has to be taste....I am a rather picky eater and I think sometimes it is due to being a 'super-taster'.

Smell.

One morning when youngest was little, my mom came over to babysit. A skunk had come in through her kitty door the night before and sprayed her. She couldn't smell it (not her best sense!) but wowza, did she stink. I was in a hurry to get to work... She stayed with my son that day. My house smelled skunky for three days. Phooey.

Smell

We do a lot of trail running and rock crawling in 4x4's and my SO will laugh when I tell him that someone with us is overheating, because I can smell coolant. I have done that before the person driving the Jeep knows it's happening.
A good sense of smell can be a pain in the summer in Arizona when not everyone wears deoderant.

Mine has always been smell. My mom says I could sniff out a stash in Tijuanan. I can smell cigarette smoke in the car behind me at a stop light with my windows rolled up. I have always had very poor eye sight. I've worn glasses since I was in elementary school and it gets progressively worse. I have a congenital cataract also. My hearing is also pretty good, but I have a "bionic" sense of smell!
