D and C procedure question

I am scheduled for a D and C at the end of March and was wondering if you could share your experiences, especially recoop, pain, bleeding, etc.

Depending on the results, I may have to have a partial or total hysterectomy a few months later...I know that will be a 4-6 week recoop period.

Thanks for any input.

I'm sorry.

I had a small period. No sex for 6 weeks afterward. Pain in my heart b/c I was so upset. That is what I remember most. I wish good things for you.

Thank you for the well wishes.
I am pretty calm right now, feel positive and really can't wait.
I am thankful that I have three great kids and a supportive hubby.
I've been dealing with this for some time and am thankful I found a
doctor who really cares and doesn't think I am crazy....

I have had 5 and the physical recovery was not too bad. The mental was very hard on me I had to have them because of miscarriages. The bleeding afterwards was not that bad. For me it lasted about a week maybe a little more but very light. Not a lot of cramping but some. I wish you luck and hope you are feeling better soon. I was back on my feet the next day doing my normal routine.

I've had 2, both due to miscarriages also. I had no physical pain at all afrerward. A light period and that was it. The last one I had DH stop and I did the grocery shopping on the way home. I think that was just my way of pretending that what had happened hadn't happened.

Here's to a quick recovery.

I also had two because of miscarriages and I didn't have pain afterwards. I was lucky to go on to have 2 more children after the miscarriages. I also had a complete hysterectomy. I loved that surgery. I was done having children and I love not having periods any more. I tell all my friends that it should be an elective surgery once you are done having children. LOL I had my hysterectomy on Monday night and on the way home on Wednesday stopped at the park for my sons 1st grade picnic. My friends thought I was crazy but a mom had to do what a mom has to do. The next day I was at the school for my kindergarten daughters graduation. All three of my children were born by c-section but I have to say that the hysterectomy was the easiest one. I actually felt good after two weeks. So if you end up still needing a hysterectomy don't be afraid.

My experience is similar to the others. No physical pain, period-like bleeding, and the heartache of a lost pregnancy in my case. Took that day and teh following off from work and then was back 100% physically. (Off-topic but it amazes me that miscarriage is something you seldom hear about until you have one.....you feel like the only person that this happened to, but then find out there are many others...)

I hope your procedure goes well and the outcome relative to future procedures is positive.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and shared thoughts.
The procedure is on a Monday, but I took the entire week off from work.
The kiddos will be home on spring break...
Have a wonderful week

Ive never had one, but I work in the Recovery Room at a hospital. You would be surprised how often these are done. Usually at least one or two a day. The pain afterwards isn't bad, people are usually up and ready to go after about an hour and a half. From what I have been told there's just mild cramping and a light period after, but your dr. will give you pain medicine for that. If you can take Ibuprofen, I've heard that it works better than narcotic pain meds for the cramps. Take your time afterwards, you have an excuse for once to just lay around and relax! Good luck! Let us know how you do!!
