Question freecycle - do you think carpet would be wanted

We are going to replace the carpet in our entire house before putting it on the market.

The gray carpet we are replacing is actually good carpeting, but would need to be professionally cleaned since we haven't done that in over a year.

The main problem with the carpet is the fact that there are old stains on it from when our shih tzu was a puppy We have tried absolutely everything to get the stains out including professional carpet cleaners who specialized in pet stains with no luck.

There is quite a large amount of carpeting (living room - 14 x 20; dining room - 9x12; 13 stairs; bedroom - 14x20) so I think there would be a fair amount of "usable" carpet to salvage.

Any suggestions on how to find out if anyone would like the carpet insteading of just throwing it away? I was thinking of putting it on freecycle?

I see carpet and sometimes padding on craigslist in the free section.

My bet is it would last ten minutes on freecycle. You would help someone out.

I see people on Freecycle requesting carpet quite often. It really won't hurt at all to offer it there. I'm sure you'll get takers quickly.

Yes I am sure of it. People are always looking for carpet. As a matter of fact out here people even look for crappy carpet to recycle it by using it upside down outside to prevent people from walking in mud for outdoor activities.

I'm sure it'd be gone in no time, even if it isnt it's always worth a try. My grandparents used old carpet to put in dog houses

I see old, stained carpet requested and given away on freecycle quite often---most often for use in garages, clubhouses, treehouses, etc. I say go for it....
