I was in Baltimore, Maryland at work. I was panicing because I was 20 miles from home (which was in Downtown Baltimore) and the buses were shutting down. Once we heard what was going on my mom and I would call each other with updates.

I was in MN at the time working with a man that was a nighttime shock jock. He said that a plane his the towers and I thought he was kidding. I called my husband and told him about the bad joke. He happened to be at home sick that day and was just sitting down to watch the news. He turned on the TV as the second plane hit. Sad. I left work right then and went home to DH.

I remember in great detail where I was. I was at our local bookstore/cafe having coffee with a friend. We were discussing a sad story in that morning's paper -- an elderly couple who were killed in a car accident the day before. The store owner came in and told us that he heard on the radio that a plane had hit the WTC.

It was around 10:15am and I got a call from the school saying my son had a headache and they wanted me to bring over a couple Tylenol for him to take. I had been up since around 6am doing my housework and laundry and did not have the TV or radio on. My husband was off and he on the computer playing some game.

I got in the car to go to the school and turned on the radio and I heard that the Twin Towers in NY had collapsed. I called my husband and told him I think there is a "War of the Worlds" program on the radio, because it just seemed so impossible. I asked him to turn on the TV to see if it was real...

I had a pretty bad case of strep throat. I was in bed drinking hot tea. When it happened I could not get ahold of my DH but I called DDad and spent the rest of day on his couch watching it.

In the evening my DB came over with DVDs of The Andy Griffith Show. We had to watch something besided the coverage.

I had just taken my 2 sons to school, at the time they were 9 and 6. My youngest was just 3 so he was still sleeping. I sat down at the computer which at the time was in a TV room, and switched on GMA - there was breaking news a plane had flown into the Twin Towers, and I thought it had to be an accident. But as I was watching the news covering it, there was the next plane. I knew it had to be an attack, I went in and woke Matt. We watched for a while, our hearts beating faster and faster wondering how much under attack we were, and when the buildings fell - terrible moment. , And after I got out of the shower we found out the other planes had crashed into the Pentagon and PA - and we made the decision to go get our boys from school, not because we were worried (well...ok, we were, we didn't know if anything was going to happen....) but we also wanted to control what they were hearing. I want my boys to know what's going on, but not be afraid to go to the mailbox, you know?

We sat glued to the TV the rest of the day. Finally I had to do something normal, so I put some pasta in the oven and we went to a prayer vigil at our church. We prayed, came home and sat at the table together and talked. I'm not sure any of us ate. We just wanted to be together.

Horrible horrible day, but amazing how we all come together, and the next morning everyone on our street had replaced their decorative flags with American flags.

I was driving to work just heading off on the exit ramp. I went into work and told my supervisor to call her Dh who worked in the trade center. She told me they had an argument that morning and she wasn't speaking to him. As we were talking, thats when it came ovet the radio about that 2nd plane. At that time she called her husband and found out he had missed his train and was just getting into the city.

I was sitting in my 11th grade Trig class when our Principal came over the speaker system to announce "The World Trade Centers have been hit by a terrorist attack." I thought it was a joke. I remember everyone in my classroom looking around at each other speechless and utterly confused. We sat in school all day and watched the footage on tv. I remember seeing my teachers for the first time as REAL people that day. Flight 93 that landed in Shanksville is probably no more than 20 miles from my High School. After that happened, I just wanted to be at home with my family. Our school tried to keep everyone put, figuring that together in one place was the safest situation to be in. Despite what they thought, tons of parents came to take their children out of school that day.

i was at work that day when a lady came into my office and was crying and telling us what happened. we turned on the radio and someone went home to grab a tv. we were glued to it the rest of the day. i was extremely worried because i have 2 brothers, both in the army, and one was on a plane flying to egypt that day. we were called when his plane landed and told that he was okay. he wasn't told anything until about 2 days later and then didn't know if it was true or not.

My husband and I had just dropped our DD off at preschool (1/2 day) and were on our way to a dr. appointment for DH. We were listening to the radio and then when we got into the doctor's office they had the TV on. I remember wanting to go right back and pick our DD up and hold her and know she was safe.
