DDs favorite part of Easter is going on an egg hunt. It is almost 2am...just got done filling the baskets and realized that we had put back the plastic eggs at Target because we were going to get different ones somewhere else. Yup...I have all the stuff to fill them with and nothing to fill.

So...it is either run to the store now (yawn)...or come up with some good excuse tomorrow. I'm going with plan B, but it is going to take some fancy talking. I had already told her we would do the egg hunt before we meet family for brunch at 9:30, but now there is no chance. If I was sure that she didn't believe in the Easter Bunny anymore (she is 8) I would just fess up...but I think she still believes. Sigh.

Hope it worked out. You could have put a green spin on it and just hid the candy, the EB is trying to cut down on the use of plastic due to environmental concerns.

I'm curious, though. What do you do with all your eggs each year after Easter? We have used the same ones every year since my oldest daughter was born (she's 14). We've added a few here & there from Easter Egg hunts and replaced broken ones, so we now have several dozen, but we don't use them all. Last night we hid 72 plastic ones (plus 36 hard boiled), and that was only one bag full - we have 3 full bags of them!

Went out for Easter brunch and then had to stop at the store "for deoderant" LOL. Sent the kids to their rooms to clean up and hid eggs quick like a bunny. hehehe. DD seemed to buy it, because we are still missing one egg. I told her that we had to look through the house first (it was too cold for an outside hunt) to see where they all were. I don't know if she was just playing along or if she really fell for it, but she is still talking about the missing egg.

As for what happens to all the eggs....I will be picking them up all week as she continues to mess with them and will probably toss them Wednesday night when we put out the garbage. DH doesn't get into the whole egg hunt, so he was grumbly when he had to help scatter eggs at the last minute. He said "this is the last year we have to do this, right? Nope!
