Question DC/VA/MD Residents~Need Assistance w/ Schools

A while ago I let the board know that we were looking at moving to either the DC area or SC. DC won!!
I have spent the past few weeks searching and I am still at a lost, so I once again come to the boards for help.
Please let me know of any good private schools that you know of in the area. (OR schools that you would stay away from)
My husband will be working at the Pentagon and we are looking all around for a school. At this time we know that we will be there for 2 years so we will be looking for something to rent (or if our house sells military housing). This is good since we have the option of where we can live.
ANY school information will be greatly appreciated.
Right now the top 2 schools that I am looking at are Trinity Christian School (on Braddock Road in Fairfax) and Oakcrest Academy (McLean VA).
We are planning a quick trip up to the area to look around and tour schools, but I would like to have a list and a plan prior to us arriving.
Thank you for any help that you can give me.
Robin

sorry, we use the public schools here in Prince William County. Except for the baby. She goes to pre-k in a private school here in Manassas.

Both of those schools are rather pricey from what I remember but pretty good, I know of a few more but cant think right now as DH is having a surgical procedure done today and my brain is kind of focused on that. I will try to get back with a list later. Are there any particular Christian Denominations you are looking at? Certain areas etc? Let me know I have been here my whole life 42 yrs worth.

Thanks Christine for the offer.
I hope your husband will be okay.

Right now my daughter is at a non-denominational Chrisitian school.
Since we are pretty much free to live where we choose the location is not an issue. Of course my husband would LOVE to find a place to live and a school right next to the Pentagon, but we know that is not going to happen.
Trinity is around $8000 and Oakcrast is around $14000. I do not want to go over Oakcrests price in tuition.
Feel free to email when you have a chance at gotjenks@bellsouth.net

Thank you and take care
Robin

op I have family in that area and used to live there and some of the public schools in the virginia area near the pentagon/etc, are very good quality. For awhile I went to public school in Arlington/Alexandria along with some of the children of senators, congressmen, embassy people etc. check out the schools wherever you wind up moving, you might be surprised, in some areas there it's not necessary to go to private school unless you really want to. now in DC there is no way I would go to public school, but some of the public schools in Virginia and MD are quite good.

it has been a long time since I went to high school but I know people who still live in that area and send their kids to public school and are very happy with them. whatever you decide, hope your children like the school

Thank you to everyone for either letting me know via this site or email regarding schools.
We have our week planned out when we visit and I can now rest a bit.
Our choices to interview are with Trinity, Oakcrest, Ad Fontes, Annapolis Area Christian School and perhaps Southern Md Christian Academy.
When we look at the schools we will also look aroudn at areas to live as well.
Last night there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel and today with schools calling me there was light and I have not felt this good about possible moving for a month.
If anyone would like to share anything else about the areas (or areas to avoid) I would love to hear it.
Thanks again board friends,
Robin
