5th Grade "Graduation" music

Ok...guess who has to put together the slide show for the 5th grade "graduation"? It's something I do every year for the 5th grade teachers. I need some new fresh music, I am SO tired of what I've been using. Can you guys give me some suggestions for some good music that will fit the theme? Now, it is Elementary school, so lyric have to be considered.

This is what I have used in the past:

Graduation Song-Vitamin C
Time of your Life (edited)-Green Day
On My Way- Phil Collins (Brother Bear)
You've Got a Friend in Me -Randy Newman (Toy Story)
Thank You For Bein a Friend -Andrew Gold.

Ok....gimme what u got!

this 'killed me' at my dd's 5th grade graduation - dedicated to the parents - 'Wind Beneath My Wings'

I still think of that day when I hear this song (and dd is now 28)

How about the song by Tim McGraw and some other guy....."you find out who your friends are" I think that has a nice theme to it.

Drake Bell - I Found a Way

Bon Jovi or Queen must have something... my son was really into these groups at that age.

Ok, it's by Tracy Lawrence, and he sings it also with Tim McGraw. Here is a link (I hope). It may be geared a little towards older kids like high school tho.

There's a great song I heard the other day ... it's basically a song about a parent praying for their child and who he is growing up to be ... I don't know the name or artist but I will try to find it if you're interested. It's a Christian Contemporary artist ... so if it's a public school it may be a little too much, but I think it was pretty general in just about praying for a child.

Yes...this is a good one. I forgot to add it to the list. I used it last year.

I forgot to say that we usually have enough slides/pictures for at least 3-5 songs.
I'm gonna go watch some of these videos and listen to the words.

It is a public school, so anything that is vaguely religious would be a no no. I have to be really careful about lyrics since its is an Elem school. I appreciate all the suggestions though! Keep them coming!

My youngest is in 5th grade and we had a meeting for this same thing. I suggested "Soulja Boy" because my daughter loves it!!! I had never listened to the lyrics!!!! I was quickly nixed.

How about:

Green Day - I Hope You Had the Time of your Life
Five for Fighting - 100 Years to Live
Sarah Mclaughlin - I Will Remember You

Lisa

Paul Anka: The Times of Your Life

Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life? (do you remember?)

Reach out for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the saddest part (comes the saddest part)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Of your life
Of your life
Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

FADE

Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

How about High School Musical songs like We're All in This Together (without the wildcats part), Start of Something New, All for One. Kids of the Future, Jonas Brothers version.

How about "No One" by Alicia Keys?

Also - "Gonna Fly Now" from Rocky would be sort of cool

Also - "Ain't No Stopping Us Now"

How about "Do I Make You Proud" by Taylor Hicks? It's the song he sang when he won American Idol.
