What to do with a diamond?

My brother gave me his ex-wife's engagement ring...its a heart shaped two point four carat diamond set in white gold. I dont want to keep it a ring (I have my own engagement ring) . Dont want to sell it, because heart shaped cut is not stylish right now, and jeweler would not ive him a decent price for it (whch is how I ended up with it he he).
I thought about a pendant, just the diamond with a nice chain...any other ideas?? Also, its a fairly large diamond, so what kind of chain would be sturdy but not take away from the beauty of the diamond??

I have no idea, but what a great problem to have! I hope you enjoy your diamond. You must have a great brother.

I had my round diamond from my first marriage put into as simple pendant---as you described. Any 14 Kt gold chain of some substance should hold it with no problem.

marriages come and go but a Diamond is forever---no use wasting a perfectly good stone

I agree with the pendant idea. Did your brother have children with his ex? Just wondering because I have my mother's engagement ring from my father (they divorced a long time ago). I don't wear it but it is special to me. Of course I didn't get it until I was married and had my own children.

You could save it and if you have a daughter, give to her for a special occasion. (HS Graduation, her wedding, etc)
