I never knew every last detail of someone's life could be found online

Wow - I had no idea that so much info was considered public records. Good grief, if you had a credit card charge off, traffic violation, didn't pay your child support, it's all online if you know where to look. Holy cow.

Am I the only one that didn't know this?

I knew it, but I think most all sites charge a fee to search. If anyone knows of a free site to get this info, I would love to have it......

In our county you can search property records, court cases, folks that are incarcerated, etc for free. I believe to see details of the court case you have to pay a fee, but you can see if it was a traffic, family court, felony (with the charges), the parties involved , etc for free.

I've been known to look through dept of corrections sites to see if there was anyone I knew <and to make sure some are still there> when I'm really bored. it's been like 3 years since one guy's been in there so he's about due to go in for possession charge.

And if you go to zabasearch.com you can usually find someone's phone number and address usually going back years. For some reason they don't have my current but they have every other for the last 20 yrs.

Also it you know something about someone like where they work or what clubs or organizations they belong to you can find out a lot.

Here's another one. It's pay if you want more info but it's pretty scary what does come up. I put in my husband's name and it comes up with all his relatives, including divorced wives of his brothers and his dead father......Yikes.

the zabaearch takes you to the same site...intellius

what's funny is that it has me listed but shows weird/incorrect spellings of my first name as "relatives"....uh, that's not correct at all!

maybe someone can understand this for me, but when i put in the zabasearch my info it lists me living at my brothers address. I never lived with my brother at all and it also lists my mother and sister as living there too. Never have any of us lived with him at all.

I don't if you are the only one who didn't know this--but anyone who's experienced cyberbullying, cyberharassment, or cyberstalking knows ALL TO WELL, that the information is out there if someone has the time and energy and inclination to research it.

LOL- I just looked up my mother's boyfriend to see how old he is - he won't tell her. I found out he is 82! My mother just turned 68.

I have used good old Google in the past to look up people's names from phone numbers and/or email addresses.

Much basic information is free via the web but the deeper stuff requires a fee that not many would want to or should pay (especially seeing as how that site gets so many birth dates wrong based on the posts above!).

I am not sure just trying to guess. Did you have anything in your name there? Bills? Phone? Did you receive official mail there? If not maybe they just go for what they think is the person most likely to be related to you. I use it for work all the time. It's about 50/50 right.

WOW! It has me listed as 71, lol. I had just checked intelius out before this was posted looking for some information and out of curiosity checked my own info....I was shocked to learn that I was 71. I bet you feel pretty good for 107 year old!
When I search my first name, middle initial and last name it has the correct age.

I know that some of the places have wrong info! Makes you wonder where they got their info?

When we did a credit check it had DH birthdate wrong. They said to change it we needed to send them proof! Why didn't they need proof before they added that info?????

The city directory has a relative as the head of our household. This relative is a child, LOL

I think a lot of information gets cobbled together when it's not actually correct. We got mail for someone with out last name a couple of times, and thought nothing of it -- but it's followed us over three addresses, and our address has been put on mailing lists with his name! If mail's that easy to screw up, I suppose information in a database would be too.

Besides statistical personal information, people put a lot of information out themselves, too. Googling any of our usernames would probably bring up a lot of information we've written.
