Question Pizza Hut changing its name to Pasta Hut??

I received an email today, saying that Pizza Hut will now be serving pasta....and the Pasta was so good they were changing their name to Pasta Hut. At first I thought it was just a marketing tool, but after searching the internet it looks like Pizza Hut will be changing its name to Pasta Hut. I personally love Pizza Hut pizza, but I think its stupid to change their name after 50 years of service. Do you think changing their name is going to hurt thier business?

Yep, the website sure does say Pasta Hut.....I was thinking it was an April Fool's thing!

Might be just for the publicity since they are newly serving pasta.....I wonder if it's a true name change, that would just be weird.

I am not fond of their pasta !! So to me it would not make sense to change their name.

If they are smart they will email you again and say "April Fool"

I got the same email and just thought it was a marketing thing, that they weren't really changing their name. I didn't research it, but I bet it's April Fools! I bet we get another one later today or tomorrow saying April Fools!!

After researching it more, I am not sure if it is actually an April Fool's Joke.

Posted yesterday there is an article from on Forbes website noting the change Pizza Hut(R) Remakes Itself As 'Pasta Hut' With Introduction Of New Tuscani Pastas - Forbes.com

Also back in January Pizza Hut filed an application for the Trade name Pasta Hut Junk Food Blog: Pizza Hut and Pasta Hut

Plus there is an article from the Dallas newspaper back on March 27th talking about name change. Pizza Hut to try 'Pasta Hut' | Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Latest News

Seems like a pretty elaborate scheme just for an April Fool's Joke

I don't think large corporations like this play April Fool's Day jokes -- certainly not one of this magnitude.

I think it is an April Fool's joke, legally they would have to file for use of the name, even to use it for a day. If you look at the website, on the screen is the name 'Pasta Hut' but they show a pizza box where you can clearly see the name Pizza Hut on it.

I'm sure it's a marketing ploy. The timing is perfect. They want to promote their new pasta line and April Fools Day is the day to do it. If they were really changing their name, the signs over the restaurants would have changed and they haven't.

Just read the news article above. It explains everything. My family loves Pizza Hut. As with any franchise restaurant, quality will vary from store to store.
With the economy being slow, I can't even begin to imagine a corporation this large changing names and signs.

An official announcement of the company's "name change" is scheduled for Tuesday, April Fool's Day.

The Pasta Hut logo will probably be on display for about a month, Mr. Fuller said.

The 50-year-old pizza brand has offered some pasta dishes since 1975. And many Pizza Hut restaurants carry a bistro menu that features individual-size pasta dishes.

We may have been a test area? They have had the Bistro menu for a long time here. They even ran $5 off coupons for months.
I don't know anyone who tried it.

Their crust *flavor* went down with the new trans-fat rules. Hah. It actually tasted like it had sugar and cinnamon in it the last time that we ate there?

With how much kids love pizza, I don't know that they would be able to ever stop making pizza completely.

Yes, the Chicago Tribune article says that. However, the article that is being refered to is the Dallas Morning News and I understand it not to be an April Fool's Joke. It is a marketing ploy to promote the new pasta dishes. The article also says that many, not all, restaurants carry a bistro menu. Here's a quote from the Dallas Morning News article.....

"The nation's largest pizza chain will temporarily change the logo on its headquarters on the Dallas North Tollway to "Pasta Hut," perhaps as early as Thursday, said Chris Fuller, a spokesman for Pizza Hut, which is owned by Louisville-based Yum Brands Inc.

An official announcement of the company's "name change" is scheduled for Tuesday, April Fool's Day.

The Pasta Hut logo will probably be on display for about a month, Mr. Fuller said.
