Has anbody started planning their summer vacations?

I was just looking at the calendar and the kids will be out in 2 months. The school year flew by! Not a clue where we are going to go.

Did you already plan your summer? Are you going anywhere?

I plan at least one year in advance, I am already planning next summers vacation. This year summer vacation we are just going to New York City for 5 days. Nothing major, just sight seeing, seeing a musical, shopping and praying we find the "Cash Cab"!!!!! Our big trip is for Christmas, we are going to Walt Disney World for 10 days. Planning the vacations are half the fun for me, trying to hunt down the best deals....looking for fun stuff to do....I could never do all that in 2 months. I normally set a budget for the trip and work around that. Plus our favorite vacation spot is hard to get reservations, so we have to plan ahead.

I have started planning, but have a lot of work to do. We're going to do a big loop, down through Amarillo, TX, across New Mexico & Arizona to the Grand Canyon, see the 4 Corners and back around home. It'll probably be about 3000 miles and about 10-12 days or so.

Planned and paid for! I have to do it early in order to get the week I need at work. We are going to the outerbanks with a group of 14 and have a house one block from the beach with a pool, hottub, sauna, 6 bedrooms, massive kitchen, pool table, etc. I so need this vacation!

We are still somewhat in the talking stage....we know where we want to go, but when is the deciding factor. It all depends on when (or if) we get a hit on our timeshare. We did get one hit for Kentucky, but not sure if that's where we want to end up, that was our 3rd or 4th choice. So still waiting on that. We usually do lots of camping, and are hoping to spend a week in the Adirondacks. Again it depends on the timeshare. Plus we should be getting a campsite at the Vikings (on the lake), so our travel trailer will be parked up there most of the summer, so we can go up each weekend if we want to. And like valorian said, with the gas prices, it'll be nice to not have to travel far.

We did a cruise in 2003 - haven't done much too exciting since then. Lately it has been 4 days at the volunteer firefighter's convention - dh goes to seminars/meetings and the wives shop/lay by the pool.

If I had money I'd be planning!

We've only had one real family vacation in our 11 years of marriage. About 7 years ago we went to San Antonio/Sea World for a weekend. Our dream vacation is Disney World and I'd also love to take the kids to the beach.

Yep

Park City, UT for early June

may parents will take the kids for 2 weeks late June somewhere (not sure what they have planned) so DH and I are planning to do something together (that is yet unplanned but most likely Vegas)

in-laws take the kids 2 weeks in late July, early August and that will be time for me to clean out the house and get caught up on upcoming fall things for my business

Actually yes. Pearl Jam announced a ten date tour, and of course they are coming nowhere near where I live.
So I bought tickets to see them in Columbia SC and me and my oldest daughter will fly there from here(IL) on the Saturday before the show on Monday. It is so much cheaper if we go Saturday instead of Sunday.
We'll fly back Tuesday.
We plan to see some sights while we are there since neither of us have ever been to SC before.
And that will be my vacation

We will be doing some weekend tent-camping trips. Our most costly vaction will be a 3-night family reunion in early June -- this will be the 17th year that we do this. Other than that, I'll probably take the kids down for a week or so to visit two sets of grandparents (about 6 hours away).

Sexysmurf, how in the world did you get both sets of grandparents to do two weeks each. They sound very special.

We will have several camping trips, we live close to a state park so we try to get there as many weekends as possible. DH and I will go to Bristol, VA/TN for a weekend around Valentines Day. We are planning a weekend trip to Kentucky Down Under the second week of April (Spring Break).

Our big vacation will be to Alligator Point, Florida. We are planning on staying for a week and doing nothing but relaxing on the beach. We are letting the kids take a friend each so they will be entertained. I'm sure we will end up doing a couple of things but other than that just soaking up the sunshine.

With gas prices the way they are and as expensive as everything has gotten, we can't afford to go anywhere this year.

I agree with the gas prices making us think twice. My kids will all have summer school until mid-July, and my sons will be in orchestra enrichment class. My daughter is starting highschool, and getting a headstart by taking two summer classes. Doesn't sound fun right now, but she will be glad that she did it. So, we're all booked up until end of July.

We might take a 3 day trip to the Dells in August.

We are going to Wichita, Kansas to the National Square Dance Convention in June.
We are taking our motorhome and our 15 year old grandson.
We will do some camping and sightseeing around Kansas and one or two of the surrounding states
(SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!).
We don't have all ot the plans made yet, don't even knowi if we are "vacationing" before or after the convention. Our grandson always goes with us and we always have fun whatever we do.

We usually are pretty spontaneous regarding our vacations. I would like to go do something this summer, but it will probably be close-by. I'm not sure yet what the budget will be. I was hoping that if we get lots of $$ back on taxes, then we can just use the economic stimulus check to go do something.
