Angry America's Next Top Model - RANT

Ok, SERIOUSLY?! SERIOUSLY?!!! They consider Whitney a plus size model and she's a FREAKING SIZE 10?!! WTF?!

When did plus size become a 10? What - does she eat a whole sandwich instead of a half?

And not only that - but Tyra always gets rid of them anyway by wearing them down and making them feel like crap for being "plus size".

It just makes me sooo mad.

I don't watch but sadly, it seems anything beyond a size 8 is considered "plus size". Don't ya know, we are all supposed to be size zero's (which didn't even exist when I was a teen growing up fifteen years ago!). A size 6 used to be thin, now the media would have you think it's fat...it's just easier to avoid crap like that on TV. Their goal is to make us (women) feel like crap about ourselves so we'll get surgery or buy whatever they are selling.

A size 10 is beautiful!

Can you even BUY size ten in a plus sized store like Lane Bryant or Torrid?

Just curious! I didn't even think 10 registered with those stores.

No you can't. And the size 12's don't move out fast at all.

If models representing 'normal' women are size 0, I guess this sort of makes sense, but really, the whole thing is daft. I didn't even know you could get size 12 in a plus size store.

Tyra moans all of the time about how thin the industry wants models, yet she has the power to make a statement with this show and what does she do? The skinnier the better. It isn't just in the modeling industry anymore. Have you noticed how major celebrities are wasting away? It cracks me up when you hear a designer say that any woman would love to wear their clothing. A size 0 with pancake boobs is going to look much better in a deep v cut halter than a larger breasted woman with cupcakes.Come to think of it what is a size 0? That is not a size. It's the lack of a size.I would love to see a woman model. One that has boobs, and a butt. Make her look good. Any store willing to cater to size 12-14-16-18 ladies would make a mint. The designers would need to realize that a size 16 does not have 15" wrists, that woman with curves do not want to wear tents to cover the curves, they don't want to wear something their mom would wear. If Target, Kohls would figure this out they could outsell everyone else.

I can't believe my eyes whenever I go to the Mall anymore.I used to think the manicans were rediculously thin but now I'm seeing a ton more of extremely thin people. These people are sooo thin they look like aliens. The weird part is they don't look bony. They have muscle tissue ,full butts, and huge bonkers. Its like their bones are 100 times thinner then ours which allows them to have such a tiny size yet still have a body.
These people have thighs the size of my arm.Their waists about the size of my thigh and I'm a size 8.I bet these people are also capable of eating only one or two meals a week and be perfectly healthy.I think theres some kind of evolution going on here.

The weird thing is I actually think, in general, women are bigger now than they were ten years ago. I know the 90's had all sorts of controversy over thin models, but it was more common to see average people who weren't very big, or who had flat stomachs. Now, it seems to be okay to have a bit of a belly, which I like the idea of, but am still a bit startled by. It also seems like there are more plus sizes clothes available, and the average person is larger. I may be wrong, and it may have to do with living in Canada ten years ago, and the US now. Either way, I think we used to put more effort into actually being thin, and now, we complain about unreasonable beauty standards, but don't do as much to change ourselves.

The mysteriously small women are a whole other topic, I think. I suppose it's just a body type thing, but I've always been built like a clydesdale, even when I was skinny, so I know I'm not one of them.

Well, my daughter, who will be 18 in May, is actually a size 0. Now, believe me when I tell you, she seriously eats more than any other person I know....just not a lot in one sitting. She "grazes" all day. She eats whatever she wants. And, that includes fast food, fruits, veggies, fried foods, sushi,......basically anything and everything. She also drinks, probably, at least 6 glasses of water a day....sometimes energy drinks too, sometimes Starbucks blended coffees, never sodas......
And, she never worries about what she eats, or when. I totally envy her that, but it has to do with her age and metabolism.
I just wish I could get away with that! But, considered a size 10 is now considered plus-size, I am in that category myself. Crazy it sure is!

If size 10 is plus size, then what I am must be considered SEMI size.

I was a teen in the late '70s/ early '80s and I was a 0 for a long time - it existed even way back then. I'm now a size 10 and don't much like the thought that a 10 is plus sized. I'm finally shaped like a real woman after years of looking like a bean pole and the media is trying to tell me I'm too big. Sorry, not buying into that cr@p.

I seriously don't remember ever seeing a size 0 growing up. I was around 100 lbs and wore a size 5 in juniors which was the smallest size where I shopped. Maybe I am remembering it wrong? Who knows...doesn't matter really.

If someone is "naturally" a size 0 (like the teen daughter mentioned above), that's okay if they are eating correctly and getting proper nutrition. The problem is, many of the people I know who try to be that size starve themselves and/or exercise themselves to near death. That or they take pills (which I can't imagine doing!). A size 0 is not natural for the majority of women. We seem to be getting back to that whole "Kate Moss" look in modeling

I looked at a plus sized clearance rack last night only to find sizes 3 up to think the biggest was a 22 but 90% of the clothes was single digits
