Eyebrow waxing????

How often do you have to go???

Do you tweeze between appointments???

Does it get to a point where you are just getting waxed and no tweezing involved???

Ok, silly question....then why go??? I like going just to clean up all those little hairs that I absolutely can not get with the tweezers, but, I was hoping I could JUST do the waxing.....seems like no such luck. BTW, I HATE when my eyebrows are not groomed, and have hairs that need to be tweezed.

be careful how much you tweeze, your eyebrows thin out as you age, and I noticed my Mom has to fill hers in partway with eyebrow pencil. I decided to take the time and tweeze them myself. I have had waxes before, and had the right shape to follow, it just seemed they would take more off, and I have a fear of future baldies

Because they can get them totally cleaned up and even. I can't seem to get them perfect!

I am with Toonces! I get mine done and keep it up for awhile but then I give up because I can never keep them even.

I, however, do not have mine waxed, I have mine "threaded"

That is totally my same routine - they get out of hand and it is just easier to go get them waxed about once a month.

I'd heard about threading a little. Can you tell us what exactly they do?? And why do you prefer that over waxing? I'll have to see if I can get that done here.....sounds interesting.

They use cotton thread as tweezers. The thread takes out an entire row instead of only one hair at a time.

Hard to explain but imagine making a cursive "e" with the thread. In the center of the "e" is the row of hair. They pull on the ends of the "e" in opposite directions (which causes the "e" to get smaller and smaller until it pulls the hair out)

(They do not actually do an "e", it is more like an X but it is easier to explain as an "e")

I think, if you do a search on Youtube, you will be able to find a few videos that demonstrate threading.

It is more painful than waxing (at least to me) but lasts longer and has a much cleaner look.

BeccaRose, where do you get your threading done? I go to India Eyes (I *think* that is the name of it) at Greenwood Park Mall. I think I pay 7 bucks + tip.

I use to get mine waxed and now get them threaded. I pay $10 + tip at the Muncie Mall for my brows and $5 for my upper lip. I usually get my brows done once a month and my lip done every other month. The brows don't hurt too much, but wow, the lip really hurts!

I've yet to find anywhere around here that does threading. Either that or they don't advertise it. I'd love to give it a try. Does it last any longer??

Waxing... threading....

Don't they both basically do the same thing as tweezing (pulling the hair out)?

Tweezing is part of my daily routine so there are rarely any stray hairs.

I feel like a ditz to be asking. LOL.

I think it lasts longer than waxing. The last time I had it done was the end of Feb and I am just now starting to see a couple of stray hairs.

I had to stop doing it myself a few years ago due to Arthritis. It makes it too hard to do.

I go after month the week after "cousin Sally comes to visit" that's when I have a hair growth spurt. It would normally cost $15 but I buy half price gift certificates from my local news station. Check the website of your local news the channel exchanges advertising for the revenue generated from the coupons. I do my upper lip (mustache a teenage boy would be proud of!) also.
Sometimes it's more painful for some reason I am more sensitive sometimes.

Aren't waxing, threading, and tweezing all the same thing? Pulling the hair out?

I am so curious... LOL

Yes, they all accomplish the same thing, basically. Waxing gets those microfine hairs that you can't really see, but, I know they're their.

Tweezing is not effective as much as the other ways. It just pulls out the hair. I am not sure about threading but waxing pulls the whole hair out and it takes a long time to grow back. And each time there are less hairs to take away. And waxing grooms the brow to the proper shape.
You would be surprised the difference it makes on your face to have it done correctly. It takes years off and looks like you had an eye lift.

When I tweeze, the whole hair comes out. I am still not convinced that these procedures are any different then 'tweezing'??? My brows are well-shaped ala Brooke Shields. Heh.

I have chin hairs! BAD. I tweeze them. LOL.

Oh, I purchased a 'personal groomer' from Walgreens. It actually shaves! It is about the size of a Sharpie so I can carry it in my purse. It works great for my upper lip. This was after another thread in which we talked about *other* facial hair! Egads... this facial hair is taking over!

I get mine waxed every 6 weeks when I get my roots touched up. It is worth the $10 to get it done quickly. I find that it has thinned out and I don't have to tweeze much between visits. About 3 weeks afterwards, I'll see some stray ones and get rid of them. Then I usually let it go until my 6 week visit. It is my luxury to myself, besides the root cover up!
If only I had the money and time to get my legs done, I would love to try it.
