Heel spurs?Plantar Fascitis?

Do any of you have any success stories of how you got rid of the heel pain associated with these conditions? I am at wits end...
I have tried exercising my calf, standing on a step to stretch the calf muscle, anti imflammatory pills, cortisone shot into the heel, stopped taking my aerobics class, iced it down...
Thanks

I am so there with you. The only thing that has given me any relief is wearing Spenco insoles in my sneakers (which is about all I can wear these days) and a twice a day prescription of Voltaren. I have considered talking to an ortho surgeon about removing the spur, but I hear they can grow back easily. I've had 4 cortisone injections with no success.

Here is a link to the insoles, but I get them at Foot Locker. For me they make the day bearable.

I have dealt with this issue for the last 8 years. I have done all those things you listed & these things below to help. Let's just say 2 years ago I couldn't walk , I was about to have to resort to a cane.

- I did the cortazone shots, but the pain was unbearable for me, did 2 & said NEVER again

- I decided to have the surgery on 1 foot (I have heel spurs on both feet) The surgery was where they go in & cut 1 of the 3 tendions on your foot bottom on the side thats rubbing against the spur. I had surgery on the other foot a year later. it took about 5 month's to recover fully after each foot surgery. My 1st foot is still numb, which I love that. the other foot is not numb at all & if I push hard on that spot it hurts still, but not from normal walking.

- I had weight loss surgery to loose weight, the 120 pounds I lost have helped a lot

Now I am able to work a 10 hour day job standing on my feet with no problem, 2 years ago, it hurt to walk to the mailbox.

Good Luck to you, I know all too well how terrible it feels

time. My doctor said that just like it took time to grow like that, it will continue to grow until it doesn't hurt anymore. It took about 2 years, but it finally stopped hurting last year. And the cortisone shots. Those helped. And the brace he gave me to wear that kept my foot at a certain angle.

I was given a boot-shaped splint I was meant to wear at night, to treat plantar fasciitis. I hated that, so would wear it when using the computer, and after several months of that, I'm doing okay. Not sure how well it would work if there are actually spurs, though.

I had heel spur surgery on my right foot 8 years ago and have been pain free with that foot ever since. Then three years ago I was having the same pain but in my left foot. X-rays showed I had developed a spur in that foot. At the time I was trying to lose weight and was doing a lot of walking & aerobics. I switched to an elliptical machine, lost 30lbs and haven't had any problems since. All my shoes have cushion heels. I rarely wear flats as I am afraid the pain will return. I also have inserts from my doctor for my athletic shoes.

I feel for you ~ the pain is excruciating!

My answers to this are time. proper shoes, insoles, and stretching. I have now had this twice and my second occurance, I attribute to too much walking in shoes that did not give proper support. The insoles do help considerably.

Good shoes are so important!! I wear Dansko, Ecco, Drew, Prophet, Clark, etc. and they really help. I got the bottom of heel healed up, but now I have pain that goes up the back of my ankle. Anyone know anything about that sort of thing?

I used to be a Payless Shoes girl with tons of shoes. Now I buy less shoes, but better quality. Ebay is a good place to shop once you know what shoes work for you. Also, don't wear the same shoes every day. Switch them out.
