??Dollar Tree "Find"????

Okay, I get the Dollar Tree, and that it is a great benefit in many ways (and, believe it or not, occasionally a ripoff
on some products.) But, I was in the Dollar Tree yesterday to buy one of the great buys (reading glasses for $1...can't beat that--hubby paid over $100 for hisi--but don't get me started on THAT!! ), and sitting at the register, I guess for those "impulse buyers" were Pregnancy tests--You know, the pee-on-the-stick kind. You could have knocked me over with a feather!!! I asked the cashier whether they sell many, and she said you would be surprised just HOW many they sell. And, she said they sell to all ages too!

Now, I don't know about you, but there are a few things I just don't think you can or should trust from the Dollar Store, and I would probably put pregnancy tests right at the top of the list.

Of course, that could just be me and my never-to-be-humble opinon!

For what it's worth, a cheap Wal-Mart test was accurate for me when one of the expensive drug store ones wasn't. I know I've seen various tests, er, tested. PeeOnAStick.com has some, I think, and if nothing else, it's a cute domain.

They've been accurate for me. Why waste big bucks on them?

FWIW with my second son and first daugther I used the Dollar Tree ones. Took 5 with DS and all were positive. With DD I took 3 and all were positive (we were not trying so a surprise) and I did not trust them so went and bought an expensive one from the drug store and it was positive too. So I think they are as accurate as expensive ones.

They have been accurate in my experience. I have been a bit irregular this past year so about 8 months ago, just wondered if that could be why but was pretty sure it was a long shot. Didn't want to spend so much (like 10 bucks for other tests) on something I really doubted. I took the DT test and it was negative (which was accurate). Then just last month, I was late again and thought I must be beginning menopause since my cycle has been so sporatic this year (I am 45). I went and bought a more expensive test at another store, there were 2 in the pack. I took both and they were both positive. I still couldn't believe it and bought a DT test and it was also positive. I am almost through my 1st trimester now!! SURPRISE!!!
So yes, I think they are reliable.

I always pick up reading glasses at $1 places. At the rate I lose them I buy them as cheaply as possible. As for Prego test, they always say to follow up with a doctor. Who will do a test of his own so why pay big bucks for a test that will be repeated?!

Doller Tree PG tests are the GREATEST! I found out about my son (who will be 3 this July) early with those tests. I took the DT test each day I had my blood tests, and as my blood levels rose, the test lines grew darker. That test even showed me a very early pregnancy loss that I had (also confirmed by a blood test).

As we were trying, and I had many negative tests. The Dollar Tree tests never showed what they call an "evaporation line" (a light line that shows when the test dries).

Before reading this thread I used to think the same thing as OP but really we mycouponers should KNOW better myself included! LOL Here we are discussing ways to save money often talking about how the fancy packaging and costly advertising raises the price of things. I guess the Dollar Tree pregnancy tests must have the same "chemicals" or whatever makes the urine turn color.
You learn something new every day!!!

I buy the cheap $ store pregnancy tests. They've been accurate so far! The one and only time I had a postive (December 2005), I did confirm it w/two other home tests AND a blood test.

Since I have crappy fertility and always get negatives, I hate to waste more than a $1 on a test! LOL I know I could just NOT test, but I do.

You can always find some good things in a dollar store. In LA we have places called the 99 cents store. They sell almost the same stuff you can get at the market. Name brand items for only 99 cents. My Dollar Tree in my old state would sell things that should be $1 haha. Has anyone been in a 99 cent store in Los Angeles?

I love the 99cent store. paying 99cents for 5lb red potatoes is much better than $4 in grocery stores
