I can testify that Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock is one of the BEST in the world! If there is any medical knowledge or treatment that can help this child--he will receive it there! ACH took care of my niece when she diagnosed w/ Juvenile RA. I can't speak highly enough about the the hospital, the staff and the doctors!

Hi, WOW, funny how God works. I didn't know about this message board until a few weeks ago. The only reason I ended up in the Cafe today is because I had a trade gone bad and was looking for suggestions on how to handle it. HOWEVER...I am in LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS and am wondering what I can do (besides the best and obvious thing...pray) for this family. Not such a big deal that I am in Little Rock, but how about the fact that my almost 6 month old son is a heart patient with the VERY SAME HOSPITAL where Grayson is in-patient. Heart patients who don't need a new heart but have a complication are classified as either "electrical" or "plumbing". My son is a electrical patient, is medicated, and is doing well. He is not in-patient but attends the clinic there at the hospital. Is there a website or anything that the family updates? Can someone let me know if Grayson is on 3-Gold or in the CV-ICU? Please, I want to see how I can help this family...bring them dinner...do something. Edited to add that all the information/posts about ACH is true. They saved my sons life when he was 17 days old. I know many other parents who would testify the same way about ACH. Its a wonderful hospital that is filled with staff who TRULY care about the patients. There were nurses and staff whom we had never met who came to check our son because they had heard about him through friends or other nurses. |

| Another "divine appointment"
I wasn't looking for a coupon website...I did a search to help verify an email I received with the prayer request for Grayson attached. I live in Jackson TN and had it forwarded to me from my mother in Philadelphia MS...I have Multiple Myeloma and spent about half of the last 18 months in Little Rock undergoing cancer treatment at the Myeloma Institute....I am considered in remission and am only returning to LR every 3-4 months for checkups now...Myeloma is a sort of cousin of lymphoma. There are a lot of wonderful supportive people in LR. I am also a physician and we don't make the best patients and I'm SURE going through this as a parent and a physician is extraordinarily difficult. Please let Dr. Mitchell know that I am praying for Grayson's miracle and for his whole family....I know how much of a family thing cancer is. God Bless all who are gathering those prayers...I also know what it is like to be prayed for!! If someone can get this message to the Mitchells as well. There is a great website that allows you to keep in touch with family, friends, and all concerned by sending out updates to all that have the web address to the site you make. It's called CaringBridge....go to CaringBridge. Free Websites That Support And Connect Loved Ones During Critical Illness. I don't have any connection to the site other than experience in using it in my battle with cancer and trying to keep people all over the country updated. Brenda, Your thoughtfulness has obviously touched so many people that are here and have come here simply by you posting the trials this precious child is going through. Grayson is blessed to have caring people like you sending out prayers and sharing his story to the world. ((((HUGS)))) to all those affected. My prayers are with Grayson tonight. |

I'm in Arkansas as well. My now 9 year old dd spent some time back and forth to ACH when she was born and the years after with a kidney disorder (she had a multicystic dysplastic kidney and when I was pregnant my clinic obgyn thought it might be polycystic kidney disease, which we are very thankful that it was not); she has one kidney now and is fine but we monitor it regularly and she can't play rough sports, etc. It's a wonderful hospital. My niece also spent several months there when she was born as she weighed 2 lbs. and was premature, etc.; she's now soon to be 8 years old and is healthy with only a few problems. If there is a 'fix' for the problem/ailment, Arkansas Children's Hospital is certainly one of the best places to be. I am praying for both patients mentioned above (OP and the other poster in Arkansas--I remember how hard it was to make it through when my own child was ill and we didn't know what the outcome would be). I just wanted to add that all of my kids' pediatricians did their internships at ACH as it is also known as a wonderful teaching hospital as it truly does have great specialists onboard! The doctors that are there are really some of the best around. |

I am also from Little Rock and my oldest spent some time in ACH, many times in ER and a stay after she had complicated febrile seizures at 3 1/2 (stopped breathing at home w/first set then later she seized about an hour even after meds). Edited to add she is 10 and fine.
