This show just cracks me up....but it is like a trainwreck, you just HAVE to watch! I love Jill, she just puts it out there. I though Jill was the most straight forward, followed by Bethany. Yes, she mocked Jill, but they are close and it is evident that they have great sisterly love for each other. Ramona......well, she just needs to call attention to herself. Luann is very graceful, poised and well spoken. As far as referring to her hubby as "the count", perhaps it is habit, perhaps it is ego. Who knows what they teach you in "royal school", perhaps they are taken with themselves. Of course, Alex and Simon creeped me out. Something is amiss, and yes, networking may be important to them.....but what were they trying to gain? Seems a bit scary. It is almost as if she is the outside, desperate to get in, at whatever cost. Enjoy the 15 minutes of fame!

Somehow I got started watching this ridiculous show and cannot stop! I have always had a thing for anything New York City, so I guess that's why. But now I love it! Ramona is just nuts, and not attractive at all to me. I like Bethenny for some reason. Jill seems like a good , genuine person. I also like Luann, even though she can be pretentious. I loathe Alex and Simon. Goodness, can't get enough of this show!! Thank goodness for Tivo!

I watched. I also watched the entire 'season' and I hope it's on again for a season 2. Seems like I know Simon and Alex from somewhere else (not the nude photos ha ha) so I do wonder if they are 'for real' or actors. I just know I know them from some other show, etc., but can't put my finger on it. Assuming that they are 'for real' though, you have to wonder if they are really as well off as they like to come across after seeing their house. Wow. Not what I would expect at all. Oh my gosh, their kids are pure brats! Wow. I too thought they were crazy when they did nothing when Francois was ruining Jason's $30 burger. Sadly I know too many parents like that though (none that EVER get invited to my house though with kids like that). I did think that their relationship was great though. I wish I had that sort of relationship with my DH (but I wouldn't want to do EVERYTHING with him attached at the hip you know!). I wondered all the way through about Bethany's boyfriend Jason too. He is an odd bird to say the least. If I were her I would move on quickly. She can do much better in my opinion and he doesn't seem committed at all. Pass on him, especially since he knows how badly Bethany wants to have a child and he isn't willing to budge (since he has children already). That is not going to work down the line and she is going to be majorly resentful towards him in a few years if she stays with him. That's a major deal breaker IMO. I mean, she was crying and very emotional about having children in the reunion show for Pete's sake! Ramona was interesting. Way too involved in Ramona. Her child did seem well grounded though. I loved that fact that she seemed to actually be teaching her daughter some valuable life lessons about earning her own way. I can't figure out why her husband is with her/they don't match--did anyone else understand how this couple worked?! (Maybe it was opposites attract...). I did however find her refreshing in that she wasn't afraid to say what everyone else was thinking at the party about Simon showing up for girls' night out. She really should have shut her mouth and kept quite for the sake of etiquette, but you have to admire her honestly for putting it out there (I too thought though that she has issues with the truth in other areas however). So I guess I like the fact that she has the 'guts' to say what she feels (and wasn't she right about how ridiculous it was that Simon came to girls' night out after all?!), just maybe she needs a class or two to help her 'put it out there a little less offensively' and then to help her 'shut up about it when everyone has heard it already'. She needs to play down the emotional aspect of it all; but I guess that's what makes Ramona "Ramona". The Countess seemed to enjoy being treated like a Countess for sure. Hard to imagine her with the Count (gag) as I found him repulsive, but hey they have kids sooo.... The fact that they seem to spend so much time apart spoke volumes to me about their relationship. I was getting that the Countess might have married the Count for the title and cash/assets, but that's just my take. I especially loved when she scolded Bethany for introducing her to the driver as LouAnn and not the Countess. Good grief really get a life. I also admired her honestly and ability to say what she means well. Jill was decently more down to earth. You had to wonder about her relationship with her husband too, but maybe he just didn't want to be on camera. She didn't come from money (did I get that right?) so maybe that is why she seems so down to earth to me. The rest of the women seem like high society snobs pretty much to me. Jill had that tendency too though. I did love the reunion show though and how they totally put it all out there. I can't imagine living this lifestyle and if this is how the women in New York City are, I totally don't want to visit now. Surely not 'everyone' is like this right (so shallow)! Jill I did like also. |

Sadari, you might be on to something about Alex and Simon...wonder if they are for real or actors. I was thinking about this the other night if they were actors after watching the reunion show. Unlike the OC women, these women did not seem to be friends (except for maybe Ramona and Jill(if you want to call their relationship a friendship)) prior to the show. They seemed to be thrown together because of the show.... Which leads me into thinking, maybe Alex and Simon are staged...are actors.... maybe? The show was focused in on them trying to social climb and then at the reunion show, they totally deny they were doing it. They did not live in Manhattan and did not appear to run in the same circles as the other women. They were wannabes... I guess this is the NYC version of Slade...on the show for drama and boost ratings... Sadari, Jill came from a very upper middle class neighborhood in Long Island, NY. Bobswife, you are right, it is like watching a train wreck...you have to keep watching it...it does have a way of drawing you in. I could not get into the show at first...liked the OC better and then...between watching Romona and her lying and crazy antics and Alex and Simon's attempt and social climbing...,it just lured me in... I find that they are all snobby and yet intriguing. I am thinking that they would have a heart attack if they had to muck the horse stalls and buy a pair of pumps from payless. I suppose that watching them makes me feel better about my middle class bliss. No worries about socialites or social circles in my neck of the country. But, i'll keep watching for the gossip and good cat fights!

It is fascinating to see what others consider normal like Alex's jockeying to get her child in the "best" preschool, Ramona's obsession with her looks and sex appeal, and Betthany's angst to reproduce- the guy is just the necessary object to get to her reproduction. I really couldn't identify with any of those issues. I could identify with Alex's house needing to be fixed. I had to laugh when she explained that she and Simon were do it yourselfers! Somehow, I can't see Simon in a toolbelt. I like Jill and Luann. Even though they both have money and position, they do not seem to be hurtful to others. Luann can't help she is a countess- the Brits came up with that system. I have to agree with the Mrs. introduction. I still cringe when children call adults by first names. I wonder who chose these 5 woman. Alex does not seem to be related to the others except by the thinnest thread. Interesting show. They alluded to next year so I am thinking there will be a season 2. What would make women with this much money and position do a reality show? I can't figure that one out. What is the payoff? Money can't be the answer. They already have the position and fame---so what are they looking for?

That's what I kept wondeirng through the entire season! I mean, come on, not a single one of these women came across as a wonderful mother/wife/woman ![]() For the most part, they came across as spoiled/entitled/shallow/self-centered human beings. |

I just can't stop watching it! It's good TV. Can't stand Ramona, Love Bethany and Jill, Luann not too interesting...but Alex and Simon... I can watch them all day, they crack me up! They are what I picture when I think of NY Socialite. And oh, yes, they are Ladder-Climbers! And what was with Ramona, she sat there like she had a stick starting at her arse and going all the way up her back. Did she think sitting with "perfect posture" was going to impress anyone? She is a liar, 3 different stories and why she left the dinner party early. But again...good TV. I hope they all come back! I actually like it better than Orange County. |

Is it just me, or do you think Ramona and Mario are seperated? They don't seem affectionate at all towards each other, and the way he enters the house seems like he is a guest.

haynes, I haven't really thought too much about Ramona and Mario. All I can say, is he must have alot of patience to deal with her on a daily basis. She gets so worked up, she gets those "Crazy Eyes"...like she is trying to stick a daggar through you. None of the dh's are really featured too much with the exception of Simon. lynclarke, I agree why would women with their financial positions want to expose their lives for a reality show. Then I thought, perhaps, they have something to gain from it... Alex and Simon...maybe to open more doors for their social climbing and help little Francois get in to a better private school (but from the last show...that does not seem to be the case...he is going to a public school)... Bethanny, self promote her food business.. The Countess Luann, promote her etiquette classes/school and book... Jill raise awareness for Arthritis (they also mentioned something about her step son's serious illness and how sick he was...I must have missed that in a previous episode).. Ramona, increase/promote her jewelry and now skin care business. I believe Bravo TV's website even has a link to her jewelry line. |

Has anyone else noticed the irony in Ramona thinking she is hot? Something is wrong with her mouth, has a weird neck. Maybe she has had restylane in her lips or something, but something is definantly off. What kind of business does Bethany have? Man, I can't get enough of this show!!

Yes, ballmom, I have noticed something about Ramona's lip/mouth area...it looks like she had some sort of surgery or treatment done to it. Bethenny, is a chef. She just completed writing a book and has a product line of food out. Here is her website Bethenny Frankel |

What?! No housewives of Southern Illinois? Damn, I was going to sign up and write a book or maybe a self confidence course-"How to be fat and happy", or maybe a line of paint to paint old furniture into modern day treasures, or maybe a video "How to slaughter a deer on your kitchen table".....oh, the possiblities are endless.
