Just watching the elimination last night, I got to wondering -- who will be next?? I can't figure this one out. Some talented ones have been eliminated and bad ones stay. I honestly don't think they're a professional group. I like Brooke, but she's not at all professional. The way she had to stop and start over the other night, plus she did that once before when she was playing the piano and singing. Usually by now, they're starting to get some confidence and I just don't see it. I do like David Cook, though.

So what are your opinions? I didn't say who went home in case someone hasn't watched it yet.

I think Brooke will go next....then Jason. It will probably come down to the 2 David's and I think that David Cook will win it.....but crazier things have happened so.....

I'm just glad to see Kristy Lee Cook FINALLY gone! She stayed on way too long. She had a nice voice but wasn't in the same league as Syesha, Carly, and David.

Jason, Brooke and Syesha should of been gone before Carly and Michael Johns in my opinion. I find it amazing that both Jason and Brooke can make ANY song they sing sound just like all their previous performances. They have only one tone they sing in and thats about it, they don't have range.

see I think Syesha has a great voice...it's very strong and powerful and she has a lot of ranges. i thought michael johns was good, but comparatively speaking with the rest of the guys like both Davids he couldn't cut it enough to make top 5. thats just my opinion though. he sure gave freddy mercury a run for his money though.

I agree, Syesha (sp?) totally rocked last night. I think she found her niche. I'd love to see her do Broadway. I never really warmed up to Carly. I like Brooke's vulnerability and honesty but I don't think she's the strongest singer.

I used to root for the younger David but the older David (Cook) has really surprised me with his versatility. I'd like to see him win. The younger David is a little boring now.

Exactly! It has turned into a popularity contest, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the younger David, who the young swooning girls are voting for, win it all. Out of who is left, David Cook should win, but I don't think he will.

Wow that comment shocked me! Never would I have ever thought she got booted off because of what her husband looks like. They actually showed him during her audition, and he made a comment...saying that he was surprised that they would allow him to be on camera.....which I thought was sad. I never gave his comment an another thought until you mentioned. I hope that is not why people choose not to vote for her. I guess I was taught to judge a book by its context not the cover.

I liked Carley, and I think Miami, LA & London Ink have dispelled the idea that people who are tattooed are hoods, bikers, or loose women. I don't think her husband had anything to do with her getting voted out.

I liked Jason..a lot. But I have not enjoyed his performances of late. And Brooke starting and stopping TWICE now, really bothered me. (I agree that the ladies/girls are keeping Jason alive for his looks, not his voice)

Instead of my top 4 - Michael Johns, Carley and the 2 Davids, I'm down to my top 2, with David Cook looking like he's going to win.

I'm anxious to see what role Syesha decides to accept for her Broadway debut!

This is going to sound odd and I don't feel this way but...

Do you think that part of the reason that Micheal Johns and Carly are gone is because they are not American? I've read a few things that makes me wonder if some people wouldn't vote them because of it. I don't regularly watch idol because it has always seemed like just a popularity contest. I remember thinking at the start of the season though- wondering why they were on amercian idol and not the uk version?

David A IS the one the teenage girls or tweens are so crazy about and is in the top spot (except for David Cook). They act so silly when he walks on stage. I'm hoping David Cook wins it all.

I don't know if she does or not- most I can find about it is that since she is married to an american now- she can become become a citizen.

Like I said I don't care about it either way- just trying to also find a reason that she's gone while others who are clearly not as good as her are still there.

I was mad when Michael Johns was eliminateed but he will have a successful music career in spite of it. Look at Daughtry, who was eliminated the year of Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee. American Idol is a popularity contest. I think Syesha will be the next to go because she doesn't have the fan base like Carly and Jason. I don't care for David Archuleta. He's rather monotone when he speaks. It would be rather boring to see him in concert. I hope that David Cook wins. He is a great performer.

I'd put David Cook at number 1 but yes, Archuletta has a large fan base voting for him. So, time will tell.

This is why we stop the america voting garbage. This isn't a talent contest this is a popularity contest. I agree carly and all the other ones should have gone except michael johns as i really loved him, but it is very possible some of the better ones will go before jason or brooke I hope that isn't the case, but i have seen it way to many times. I love both David's and hope to see them as the final 2.

The title of the show is "America IDOL" not "America's Talent Show" so that in itself should give a clue as to how the show runs.

Yes, it is a popularity contest. All movie and record stars are about popularity not about talent. I am sure everyone here knows an amazing unknown actor or a fantastic unknown singer or guitar player. It is about selling themselves and records (cds of course). And selling has never been about talent. It might and sometimes does go hand in hand with sales of tickets and records and watching shows and movies....but we all know some terrible singers and actors that make millions just because they have charisma.

I think Carly didn't get the votes, however talented she might be, because she lacks that ultimate umph...

And we all know too the crowd is fickle...after all almost all of the top winners have lost their record contracts. Some of the ones who did not win do have successful careers.

Sometimes it is all about good marketing to the best target audience.

Well, I personally do not believe that the "right" person won this show since and except for the first season when Kelly won. Well, Season 4, when Carrie won, I believe she was tied, in my never to be humble opinion, with Bo Bice. I think Carrie is a great singer, but I also feel that when Bo sang acapella he proved that he actually had the better chops.....needed no backups, studio "fixes"--just pure of voice. Season 2, Clay should have taken out Ruben....Season 3 Jennifer Hudson should definitely beaten Fantasia, Season 5 I think that certainly Chris Daughtry definitely beats out Taylor Hicks as well as Elliot Yamin----and in all truth, just about all the top six that year besides Taylor.....Season 6 should have gone to Melinda Doolitle.....
But, then again, it seems to me that many of the "losers" of AI do better for themselves when not so locked into contracts that limit their carreers.

As for this year, I would not be upset if either David wins.....I believe that David A, at 17 would wipe the floor out from every single one of this season's finalists if he were just a little more "seasoned". He has a beautiful "instrument" in his voice, he just needs time to perfect it.


And, at least we do NOT have Sanjaya this year knocking out good singers......

I read this and thought that it was very interesting. I think that I liked Idol more when it was more pure and really was people looking for their first break. I understand that this link comes from vote for the worst and I do not believe in what they try to do but the article seems well written and full of facts. Who knows.

I just know that I liked the show better before this season.

Thanks for the link, Darlene....good article. I hadn't heard the twist that the producers were actually planting these folks who had already had contract opportunities....although I'm not sure that David A. winning Star Search at age 12 qualifies.

David Cook is my fave....even if he can be a little full of himself and smug at times.

Yeah, I dont think that David A. winning Star Search at 12 has really any bearing on if he should be on Idol or not but some of the rest of them have had their shot and didnt make it. I think the show should be for people who havent gotten their chance yet.


My favorite has already been voted off and I have a hard time getting over that Brooke has forgotten the words two different times and she is still there.
