Ordering flowers?

I'd like to order some flowers for Mother's Day. The only place (normally) I know to go is 1-800-Flowers.

I saw an ad for ProFlowers. They have some beautiful flowers running a little less expensive than 1-800-Flowers. I'm not a big flower orderer, and I only ordered once from 1-800-Flowers for my MIL and she was very happy with it.

Does anyone have any experiences with either of these services besides my once?

TIA!

I use ProFlowers all the time. And, if you go through Mr. Rebates - Cash-Back Rebate Shopping at over 1000 Stores you get 15% back. (if you decide to sign up I think you get $2.50 bonus too, if you want a referral link, lemme know)

Recently there was an issue with a flower delivery that I had sent to my work for a friend. FedEx had screwed something up and it was going to get there late, after we were closed for spring break for a week. ProFlowers resent the entire delivery to my friends house overnight and expedited. The flowers were beautiful too!

I was watching TV last night and there is a deal that I saw. There is a thing up in the top right corner that says TV and radio. Use that and in the box type in DEAL and you will get an extra something. Sorry I am so vague but I work nights and I was just partially paying attention. HTH!

Have used ProFlowers myself many times. I HIGHLY recommend ProFlowers. Arrangements and plants have always been fresh, beautiful and long-lasting. Great customer service too!

Not sure, but, when you order flowers don't they go thru a local florist, in the end, anyway??? Such as, say I live in Chicago, and want to send my Mom in Atlanta some flowers. I call ProFlowers (or whoever) and order them. They, in turn, wire the order to a florist in Atlanta, who will deliver them to my Mom. If this is the case, I don't see how it would matter who you ordered thru, and I would just call a florist in the area I want the flowers sent to, and avoid the extra wiring charge.

This is how I have done it in the past, anyway.

Not with ProFlowers. They FedEx them from....uh...wherever. LOL

Sometimes they offer free shipping too. Like I said in my earlier post. I get 15% back from them if I go through MrRebates

I've used ProFlowers as well, and the arrangements are always beautiful and fresh. Also, Hallmark flowers are THE BOMB. My friend sent me a delivery and it had the cutest vase, looked like a purse...and the flowers stayed for weeks. It was gorgeous.

I recently read an article in Real Simple magazine I think, and it listed the mail order flower companies and Pro Flowers and Hallmark topped the list, for the quality of the arrangements.

I've used and received Proflowers and they are very nice - their roses last so long compared to others that I've had. I think the only drawback on them is that the receiver has to make the arrangement themselves.....takes a little bit of the punch out of a floral delivery, IMO.

ProFlowers -- 'Grower's Choice' gives you a LOT of bang for the buck.

They use FED EX so plan for a weekday (Monday - Friday) delivery when you order.

So the person receiving the flowers gets them, and then puts them in a vase themselves?

Or are you meaning the floral shop that receives the order from ProFlowers?

Sorry, I got a little confused on that one.

Thank you all for the replies/advice!

Yes, you can order with a vase in your order, but you don't have to. The flowers come boxed via FedEx

I had never heard of ProFlowers, so I decided to check them out. It looks like all the flowers come bouquet style (think of going to the grocery store and grabbing a bouquet, like that), then you can choose a vase if you like, or the recipient can use their own vase when the bouquet arrives. They come right from ProFlowers via FedEx. Shipping starts at $9.99. They also have plants.

Flowers, plants, roses, & gifts. Flower delivery with fewer handlers & better values. I would go there and cruise the sight, very helpful.

If you don't mind them being mailed you can get them from Sams club on-line.
If you want them delivered I would call a local flower shop.

Not certain what kind of price range Proflowers has, but I think you're better off looking up the number of a local florist (or grocery store with a floral department) and calling them directly and placing an order. No shipping charges.

I think it depends on where the flowers are being sent. I have ordered many times from FTD, but have ordered ProFlowers once or twice to have deliveries made in FL. The recipient, my mother, said the ProFlowers arrangements were okay, but did not compare to the FTD arrangements.

It's cheaper to call a florist in the community you are sending flowers to and paying with a card. 1800Flowers and the other national companies do just that and charge you a surcharge. I just go online look up florists in the area I am sending to pick one out call them tell them what I want and pay for it with my debit card.

I have ordered from Pro Flowers on several occassions and never had any problem. They come layed out in a box with the vase separate and then the receiver puts them in the vase when they get them. The flowers I have ordered have all been very nice.

If you have a mypoints account, you usually can get extra points thru them. Or both of these are on ebates.

Another vote for Proflowers, although I've noticed their fuel surcharges are on the rise. If you do get a free vase, note that you will end up paying a little over $2.00 for it since it adds weight to the pkg & it ups their delivery cost. You will see a separate surcharge for the free vase @ checkout. If the recipient already has a vase, forget about getting the freebie.

My MIL said her Proflowers order last Mother's Day was disappointing. The roses were droopy from the time she opened the box and never perked up or opened up. She called customer service without telling me and they sent her a new shipment which was the quality she had come to expect.

I also love Proflowers - I use them for just about all of my floral needs unless I'm sending them somewhere my local florist can deliver in his truck. I've never had a problem with them and we've always gotten rave reviews from anybody we sent them to.
