My poor baby!!!!!!!!!!!

our daughter is away at college and this week is finals. she had one today , 2 tomrrow and one wed. last nite at 1:30 am, my phone rang and it was her boyfriend telling me that they were in a cop car on the way to the e.r cause our dd had fell outa her loft bed and hurt her arm. Hurt her arm aint the words for it. She broke her elbow and we spent the day with her trying to get her stuff taken care of. the dr. wont put it a cast until the swelling is down. its about 3 times its normal size and purple, blue, green and lots of pretty colors. lol. she has to take the final from today tomorrow Plus another one. she will be out for the summer on wed after the last final and she is going home with us for a few weeks then move back into her apartment for the summer and work. her room mate and boyfriend are taking care of her while she cant. her boyfriend is great. a real southern gentleman. he has always opened doors, pulled out her chair and such for her and its really coming in good now that she cants do alot for herself.
please keep her in your prayers that the finals goes well and she aint too loopy on the pain meds to take them. . thanks guys!

Is there anyway she can talk to her professors about taking an I and taking the finals during the summer semester when the swelling is down and her arm is in a cast?

Oh, poor girl! Is it her non-dominate hand (I hope)?

Hopefully the pain won't interfere with her test taking. Owwwwwwwww, I can't even imagine!!

PS: My college daughter is taking her finals this week too.

She broke her rt arm 3 times when she was little so she learned very young to eat and write with either hand and thank God she broke her left arm this time and is mostly right handed. but can make do with the left if she has to. The classes she has finals left in, the proff's wont be there this summer so she has to take them now or not at all. If not at all, that will bring her grade way down. I just hope she can pass them and get this all over with for awhile. I feel so sorry for her. thank God she has a great room mate and a wonderful boyfriend to help her till she can come home.

Geez-what a tough break (and really, no pun intended there). I'm hope her professors will be accomodating. No reason to take finals when you are loopy on pain meds. Those can definitely wait. I think her teachers will understand. Sending healing vibes your way!

shes home and we are going again to the dr today to see if the swelling is down enough to cast it. this has been one *&^%$ of a week.

Well, she didnt just break her elbow, she shattered it. surgery is tomorrow at 8 am. pray for us!!! bless her heart, he gave her more pain meds to take with what she is already taking. she is really loopy now. she shattered the point on her elbow and basically he said she "smashed the hindge " that holds every thing together.
am sooooooo tired . am going to lay in the tub and then go to bed.

That is just awful news! I will definitely pray for her and for you and your whole family!! It is so heartwrenching to watch your kids in pain....a mother never stops worrying no matter what.

When we moved our dd into college last fall she first opted for a loft bed. My husband asked the RA if they had those protective bed rails like you get for toddler beds. My dd was horrified, but I see that maybe they would be a good idea afterall. (And I am really glad she opted to lower her bed after a few months, they are up so high!)

surgery went well. took over 2 hrs to rebuild her elbow, has 3 screws and a plate now but is not in any pain now thanks to the meds. she is sleeping in the recliner, snoring away.
