Question Anyone familiar with the GEM cars??

Global Electric Motorcars

Just wondered if they are worth the money or not. Dh and I saw one for sale yesterday, it's a 2002 and the salesman said it had brand new batteries and stuff in it. Looked brand new, only 200 miles were on it. I thought it would be perfect for tooling around the lake park where we'll have our trailer this summer, and even tooling around our neighborhood (I live in the country). They were asking $4995.00 for it. Good deal? Pros/cons? I know in a matter of 2-3 weeks it'll be gone, just wondered if we should jump on it before someone else grabs it.

TIA!!

No experience with one but looking at the picture, my first thought was "golf cart".. so I'd just wonder if you've looked into golf carts and how they may compare to the GEM? The things they drive in the apartment complex here have I think seating for 6 and those zip on covers for when it's chilly/rainy out, don't know if they'd call them golf carts or what since there's seats facing backwards on the back instead of storage.

The one we looked at didn't have the zip on covers and I think it only sat 4, and it didn't really look as elaborate as the ones shown in the pictures. Yeah, my first thought was "pretty fancy golf cart", but dh even thought he could drive it to work, most of the roads he drives on to get to work the speed limit is maybe 45 max, so he could drive it instead of his big Chevy.
