Hi, I'm not sure about the model numbers, but I have a Kenmore Elite HE 4t, both washer and dryer. I'm not crazy about them. I like that they're HE, but the dryer takes forever to dry anything (jeans will take 3 cycles every time). I also get mysterious stains and holes that weren't there when I put them in. I haven't been able to pinpoint where they are coming from yet, but they are straight line cuts and marks so I can only figure there is some point in the washer or dryer where they are getting caught. Mine are both 3 years old. Anyway, JMTCW. Renee |

I would never buy anything Kenmore nor anything from Sears that might ever need service or repair. We had an experience with a Kenmore fridge that had a factory defect took us a year to get a refund after many attempts at repair some with serviceperson never showing up. I would have saved myself a lot of time and trouble if I had goodled "Sears complaints" or "Sears service complaints". Take the chance if you are feeling lucky. You might be the one person in a million that has no trouble with a Kenmore appliance or if you do you might be the one in a million that has no problems with service calls. I would receommend against it personally.

I have a Kenmore He4t washer and matching dryer. Mine are two years old. The washer is great -- I love it. It gets my clothing very clean, uses less water than a regular washer and spins a lot of water out of the clothing to cut down on dryer time. The dryer is ok -- I wouldn't say I love it, but it does the job. I did have a problem when I first got it that it would stop before the clothes were completely dry. I called for service and it turned out that the door was misalligned (should have been fixed at install, but wasn't) so if something inside would bump up against it while tumbling, it would open the door very slightly and stop the dryer. Once that was fixed, the problem went away. I sometimes have problems with some of the clothing in the back of the dryer still damp (clothing in the front is dry). I had the same problem with a previous dryer (totally different model). This is a common problem with any of the new dryers with 'moisture censors'. I simply use the timed dry cycle for the damp clothing and that takes care of the problem. I love that the dryer is usually finished before the washer, so no more waiting for the dryer to do another load of clothing. Honestly, I have had more trouble with other service companies (especially HH Gregg) than I've had with Sears. Maybe I'm just lucky, I don't know. All of my appliances are 'high end' Kenmore and we always seemed to get very seasoned service techs who come out. Sarah.....mom to Jason & Devin |

I bought a Kenmore Washer and Dryer about 10 years ago. I still have the washer and in all these years, it has cost me $200 in repairs (water pump leaking). I still love it today. The dryer was replaced after I burned the motor out by pushing it in towards the wall which in turn kinked the vent to the outside. The lint was gathering in the machine and I'm lucky I didn't catch the house on fire. I replaced it with another Kenmore and bought the extended warranty. It never had a problem during the 3 year warranty, but a year after the warranty expired, it started acting up. They wanted $160 just to come look at it, then the repair would be extra. I ended up buying a new dryer from Costco and wouldn't you know that a week later, I got an extended warranty offer on the Kenmore for $300 which would have covered the repair. Go Figure. I was/am still mad that I let go of that Kenmore Dryer cause I really loved it. The Costco one is really good too (Whirlpool) - I've had no problems with it thus far (almost a year). I stick to Kenmore when I can, but I suspect, they are just a whirlpool (or another brand) re-packaged. I bought a Kenmore dishwasher when I remodeled because it had a good rating by Consumer Reports. |
