Favorite Mother's Day Memory?

DH offered last night to have the kids serve me breakfast in bed on Sunday morning. That's funny in our house because the kids did it a couple of years ago. They curled up next to me and began quietly sharing my food while we talked. By the time it was over and done with, I got the juice & they had eaten everything else, which I found absolutely hilarious.

I'd love to hear some funny or special stories from others.

I don't really have any funny stories to share -- I do want to wish all the mothers and 'mom's a happy and restful Mother's Day!

When My son was about 6 or 7 he walked in with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.I thanked him and expressed the gratitude any mom would show over such a deed, but couldn't help but ask him later how he came up with the money to buy them with.He said he used monopoly money! LOL. We had a florist behind the apartment complex we lived at and eveidently they let him buy these beautiful flowers with monopoly money.Well I know the florist was probably just being kind and I didn't want to embarass anyone including my son for doing kind deeds so I just left it at that, and told my son nicely to never buy anything with monopolly money again.

I have 2:

Several years ago - dd was 6 and ds was 3 - dd and ds decided to make me Mother's Day breakfast in bed. She (they) made me moldy toast with butter and served me cold coffee (from the day before) with too much creamer and salt instead of sugar. DS picked dandelions from the back yard. I ate 1/2 of the toast and sipped some of the coffee. I told my kids it was the best breakfast I ever had. I recently told them the truth and we chuckle about it. They are actually grossed out to know that I ate it.

DD at age 8 begged for household chores so she could by me a silver bracelet I admired that was on sale for $10. DH told her she didn't have to do chores that he would give her the money but she insisted on doing chores so she could buy it herself. To date, it is still one of my favorite bracelets and I wear it frequently.

DS1 made me something in either K or 1st grade that told why his mom was the best....well, it's because I make the BEST macaroni and cheese. Then he put in parantheses - the kind in the blue box. LOL. Wow, how gourmet am I? Best mom - NOT!

My DH and I were at church on Mother's day and we had only been married for 5 months. The priest was handing out Mother's pins to all the mom's in the pews and he handed me one. I said "oh I'm sorry Father, but I am not a mom", and he said "you will be one day". Wouldn't you know it, I was pregnant and didn't yet know. Gives me goose bumps every single year that I think about.

My two favorite Mother's Days were when we were stationed in Atlanta. We used to go to alot of NBA games, we all love basketball. The Hawks were in the playoffs two years and we were able to get tickets for the NBA playoff games on Mother's Day for two years in a row.

No specific memories of Mother's Day itself, but my daughters were just always so sweet! They always went outm of their way! I am truly so blessed.

On Mother's Day 2005 my husband told me Happy Mother's Day. I wasn't a mother yet but I wanted to be one by the time the next mother's day rolled around. He said not to worry that I would be. Well he must be psychic or something because it turns out our twins were conceived 6 days prior to Mother's day 2005, so I was a "mother" (to be) after all and didn't even know it yet.

Oh these stories are so sweet! Happy belated Mother's Day to all of you. Last Friday, DS (4yo) and I went to story time at the library. It consists of stories and a craft. The theme for the week was "Mother's Day" and the craft was an adorable pin cushion that looked like a cup of coffee with a big puff of foam on top. I stood there and helped him make. When we got home, he told my DH that he had to hide my pincushion so it would be a surprise on Mother's Day. Apparently, he hid it under my bed and over the course of Friday and Saturday, he took every member of the family into my room to show them the surprise hidden under my bed! I just want to eat him up sometimes -- he's so stinkin' cute!
