this appropriate for a prom? Would you let your daughter go like this?

There is NO WAY my daughter would step out in that. In fact, I doubt I would allow my son to leave with a date dressed like that!

I saw this on another site this morning. All I can say is there is no way, no how one of my kids would ever, ever be allowed to wear that get up out of her bedroom let alone out of the house. Fortunately, I'm fairly confidant that my girls would never want to wear something like that.

WOW!!! Where were her parents?? That is totally inappropriate. She looked rather trashy IMO, and like she was dressed to go poll dancing, not to the prom.

The sad thing is, this is what some young girls (and their parents) think is cute for them to wear. It's sad the things young girls have to choose from when buying clothes. It is VERY difficult to outfit a young girl in something "appropriate" that they will actually wear.

That dress is fine............if you're working the streets trying to earn a living! Give me a break. It didn't even cross her mind that it was just a tad skimpy? Not one person intervened and told her they might not allow her into the prom because of the "lack of" factor? I won't even question about her mom as it probably met her approval. Whatever happened to sophistication and class?

DH and I noticed a lot of the dresses this year had cutouts on the sides. Doesn't leave much to the imagination, does it? The dress on the OP's link beats anything I've seen this year. What a sad commentary on our society.

The dress is definitely not acceptable for the prom.

My DH just said it would be great for a Lady of the Evening Prom. In addition to being inappropriate for a high school prom, it is really really ugly

OMG, what kind of parenting is that child getting. There is no way I would have even let my daughter (if I had one) consider wearing such a dress. Much less of allowed her to be somewhere that sold that type of outfit.

I thought my neices dress was a bit risque with little side cutouts, but I guess that was the style this year. As a lot of the girls had on the same type dress.

It would be a cold day in H.E. double hockey sticks before any of my three DD's would be allowed out of the house like that. They walk out of their room in something like that and that dress becomes fire starter for our fire pit. That is just tacky and shows a great lack of maturity. I hope that I raise my daughters to have more pride and respect for themsleves than to attempt to wear something like that.

I have a senior daughter who just went to the prom. She has so much more taste and class than this trashy outfit. She would never even think of going out in something like that. But she is VERY stylish and doesn't need to call that kind of attention to herself.

I think a girl going to her prom should look elegant, I think this dress is trashy, and I agree with the other poster, more like a poll dancing outfit, not a prom outfit. I'm glad I dont have girls hehe

Regardless of whether or not it was appropriate, I'll tell you what wasn't - leading her away in handcuffs. What she wore was not illegal. Go to jail or go home? Wow. I'm glad I don't live in Houston, Texas.

She wouldnt leave she stayed to argue about a dress she knew wasnt within the guidelines in the first place, that's way more than a 1inch midriff showing. Also if she was causing a huge ruckus at the hotel, the hotel had the right to have her removed.

Let me first say, THERE IS NO WAY my daughter would even walk out of our house looking like that. This girl obviously got what she wanted out of it because she got attention.

What were her parents thinking?? That is just nasty!!!

I thought I was pushing it when I "tried" to wear a low cut top to a dance. All my dad did was point up the stairs (my cue to change tops or else!!!). There's NO WAY I would've been left out of the house in something like that. I agree that it's just nasty and something a lady of the evening or a pole dancer would wear.

I have to give her credit for trying to make her own prom dress....however...she must not have had much guidance when it came to adults in the home allowing her to beleive that it was appropriate for a prom dress. I wanted a strapless dress for my senior prom...but my parents promptly said no and a different dress was purchased. I guess her parents must have thought it was appropriate?

The Seattle Times: Living: You call that a prom dress?

It's sold in stores, the model put the dress on wrong for the runway, it became #2 on sells so they kept selling it that way from what this article says

It's so over the top that it sort of makes her look like a transvestite. Anyone else would need a whole lot of toupee tape!

I wouldnt let my daughter wear that, she looks like some of the music stars going to the awards shows...
OTOH, what a beautiful girl...maybe a modeling agency will notice her. She has a beautiful face and a long lean figure I would kill for

A bit odd, but much more appropriate!
That other 'THING" can not even be called a dress, much less a prom dress.
Something like that should only be worn in a married (or committed) couples bedroom!

My mom and I were just talking about prom dresses. She said in her time the nuns would put a doily on the chest of the girl with a low cut dress.

My guess is that they couldn't find a doily big enough for this young lady!

Good Lord, this is what we've come to?? That is pathetic. Was this girl raised with any morals? And people wonder what happened to society.
