Craigs List advice

I never bought or sold on Craig's List but know some of you have. I need some advice. We were looking to sell our pop up camper at the end of the season last year. Opened it, cleaned it out, but never advertised, so the season left, and as we were closing it up, DD and her friend were doing it, and she cranked it down therefore, breaking the bracket and pulley system on the one side w/ the bed (if I'm remembering what DH said.)

He went to camper place to get estimate on repair and they said it might cost between 500-1000 to fix it. So it's still here, and I just thought maybe if I listed it on Craig's List, AS IS, and explained what happened to it, I might find some handy person, or someone who really wants it and is willing to fix it.

It is a 1995 Coachman. We used it ourselves only twice. Has air, and the two beds on each side and beds into the table area. I guess it sleeps six you could say. (Is that the average?)

Do you think it's worth listing it? and what price should I ask for it, do you think?

I love using Craigslist and use it to buy and sell often - you should definatley list it on there and just explain the issue. Make sure you include the other great features and pictures always help to sell an item.

I'm not sure of the price for pop-ups. I would look up the blue book pricing. A quick search in google brings up a few sites. You could also check Ebay for what you camper is currently selling for.

Good luck!

Like the previous poster stated, get a value on the camper either from a pricing guide or dealer. Also, if you have a local freebie classified, you could run your ad in that as well. Good luck with selling.

I would go on the RV.Net : RV.Net - The Leading RV Community, Club, RV Travel and Information Source for Recreational Vehicle Camping forums, post your problem on the pop up forum, and I bet you get a $5 fix for that...
Those folks can help you figure out where to go to get an asking price..

Thanks for all the good advice. I'm glad I pursued it as DH said, let's just junk it. I know someone will want it. Thanks!

Be honest, and you'll probably do better than if you tried to make it sound like no big deal. I put a fridge for sale, describing it as 'reasonably energy efficient, but not too attractive,' and it went fast.
