Favorite "old" TV shows.....

Annadrose's post about David Cassidy got me thinking about "old" TV shows, such as The Partridge Family. I liked watching The Brady Bunch and Happy Days.

What "old" shows did you like to watch??

I have found a fellow TV-watching soul in my 13 year old daughter, I am having so much fun introducing her to all the old shows! We have watched The Partridge Family, Family, Family Ties, Family Affair, (hmmm...might I see a pattern developing? ) The Brady Bunch, Facts of Life, The Waltons, and several others. I just found out that Fantasy Island was released on DVD and I'd love to share that one with her. She has discovered Seventh Heaven and The Gilmore Girls on her own (after my time...sigh...) but the one I would LOVE to share with her, which they haven't yet released is Eight is Enough! Where is it? A whole generation is growing up without the glorious blonde locks of Willie Aames as Tommy Bradford -- anyone remember the christmas show when Mr. Bradford came upon a gift that had been put away for Tommy by the now-deceased Mrs. Bradford? THAT was a tearjerker!! Sigh, they just don't make them like that anymore!

Ohh, I loved all those shows. I have often wondered why I never saw "Eight Is Enough" Or "Family" reruns. I've never seen them on Nick At Night or anywhere. I also loved Mr . Ed, Carol Burnett, all of them . Our poor kids today are just missing out! One summer my daughters and I stayed up late everynight to watch old Brady Bunch and others on Nick At Night. TV shows today just miss the mark!!

I loved " Dennis the Menace". Reminds me of my childhood. I used to watch " 8 is Enough* every Wednesday night. Didn't they have " Love Boat" & " Fantasy Island" right afterwards? I bought the DVD of family Affair. I watch a few episodes every day. My son has " The Odd couple " on DVD.

The quality of these shows were better. I lived for the Partridge Family and Brady Bunch. Also loved I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. And the Carol Burnett show was so funny.

I am semi Obsessed with Lucille Ball so I'm a big fan of ol "I Love Lucy" and "The Lucy Show" episodes.

I also love John Wayne...but that's more in the movie category. I must have 30+ John Wayne movies.

My daughters are both huge I love Lucy fans. We have the entire collection on DVD. My youngest daughter (age 12), has all her friends watching them now. I think its great that they can enjoy the humor, and have so much fun watching something from so many years ago. I sit down with them and watch the old episodes with occasionally. Lucy really was one of a kind.....

Name just about any popular show from the late 40s to the beginning of the 80s and I most likely loved it!

And Sienfeld and Frasier and Golden Girls are shows I never tire of even though I have seen every single episode at least 5 times!

One of my favorite that I watched when they were on rerun on TV land was Petti Coat Junction. I used to love that show. Along with I love Lucy, Brady Bunch, Eight is enogh, and later on Designing women. (I lived the Sugarbaker sisters played by Delta Burke and Dixie Carter.) Ahh those were the days.

I am always buying TV series. Amazon and DeepDiscount have great deals every month. (usually free shipping)
It is amazing that some shows that I remember the most only run a couple of years. Gilligans Island only run for 3 years. The Monsters (only 2 years). Knight Rider (only 4 years).
I am waiting for the last 2 seasons of The Cobsy Show to be show up in the mailbox. The kids really love that show.

Where oh where are you tonight, why did you leave me here all alone. I searched the world over and I
thought I found true love. You met another and ------- you was gone. lol Yes I remember Hee Haw. When my sister was around age 3 she was in love with Buck Owens. My parents watched it every week and with only one black and white tv in the house we watched it too.

I still thing Andy Griffith is funny, and so is Dick Van Dyke, and I love Lucy. I think these old show stay funny because they really didn't do topical humor.

Unfortunately Ms. Beasley is pitiful. Even when I was young, my mom begged me to get rid of Ms. Beasley because she was so yucky. I had cut her hair and then cried for hours because she looked awful. But I was loyal to her, LOL. I kept her and yes I still have her. She's stored away, and of course you can pull the string but she doesn't talk anymore. Her glasses are lost and I don't know if the apron thingy is still with her or not. She's valueless but it's a sentimental thing for me.
I remember very clearly my mom taking me to a store, showing me all the new & better dolls, the ones that peed, walked and talked, fancy compared to my Ms. Beasley. She told me I could pick out any doll I wanted if I just agreed to throw away Ms. Beasley. *sigh* How could she ask me to throw away my best friend just because she was a little worn? LOL....needless to say I made the decision to keep Ms. Beasley and pass up the new, shiny, fancy dolls. It was tough(I was about 6 or 7)but I just couldn't let her go.

It came on Saturday mornings, a Dad and a son and daughter. Man, today there just aren't shows that are kids will be talking about 20 years from now. Yuck....

The Hallmark Channel has some shows like The Waltons and Little House. Andy Griffith is on several different channels here.

So MANY listed here, I've loved. Some before my time (thank God for re-runs!) and some I grew up with. 50's - 80's....the era of the true sitcom and "Movie of the Week". Ahhhhh, I miss it!

Facts of Life - I adored that show. Nick At Nite had it for a while. I was so surprised when it wasn't on anymore. That show was the IT show for so many girls! (And guys in love with Nancy McKeon and Lisa Whelchel, hehe)

The Patty Duke Show - another show I never would have seen if it hadn't been for Nick At Nite. They were showing that one back in the early 90's, around midnight or so. I worked a particular shift that allowed me to watch it. It came on a little while after I got home, so I'd hop in bed and watch it. As far as I know, they didn't bring it back since then, but I sure wish they would!

Nice TV memories, folks, thank you!

Does anyone remember "Fury" (the black horse)? That was my ALL-TIME fave!!
And what about "Wonderful World of Disney" that came on Sunday nights, and "That Girl" with Marlo Thomas. I never see any of these on, but thank goodness "I Love Lucy" is still around - she's timeless!
